"I received a prompt response and a clear diagnosis of my problem, which involved repairs to the siding and trim behind my house. The job proved to be more complex than originally thought but the company was clear about why, explained the additional work that needed to be done, and came back to complete it quickly. Communication was quick and easy. They even made a side trip to help me match paint colors for a reasonable fee."

"Jeff arrived on time for quote. Price was fair based on other properties I have had painted. Jeff and his crew did quality work. Since this is a rental property and I was not onsite each day, Jeff sent pics and updates every day. They sanded old wood windows and wood trim and made them look fresh again. Fixed holes and imperfections in walls and painted. They also installed new baseboards and window trim in some locations. They also finished the job a day early. I finally found a quality painter that I can trust."

Small jobs welcome

"Gus and his crew of painters, Arturo, Marisol and Gabriel, are second to none. Not only did they do an outstanding job with the painting and cabinetry, but they moved everything room by room and put everything back EXACTLY how it was placed originally. They made the experience very livable. We are having carpeting installed soon and will have GG Remodeling handle that job as well."

"Julian & Jason painted our the outside of our house last fall and we were very pleased. My husband was impressed with their method of spraying it on and then back rolling it to get better coverage. The color was important to me, and Jason went made sure it matched perfectly. We have small pups and they were careful to close all gates behind them. We would highly recommend them!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

A concrete overlay is often the most cost-effective way to resurface a pool deck. To do this, you’ll need to pour a thin layer of concrete over the existing pool deck, which you can customize by stamping or painting. A stamped concrete overlay provides additional traction on a pool deck that can help minimize the risk of people slipping and falling.

There’s no single paint that’s the most waterproof. Instead, there are several types of waterproof and water-resistant paints that suit different purposes. Epoxy paint, for instance, is commonly used to provide a waterproof coating to floors and decks. Masonry paint is an excellent choice for exterior walls. Meanwhile, there are waterproof acrylic paints that can be used for interior and exterior walls. It’s more about choosing the best type for what you’re painting instead of the most waterproof paint overall.

In most cases, sanding an old deck before staining it is necessary to achieve a decent finish. If your old deck has a relatively new stain finish on it and you're only doing touch-ups, you can generally skip the sanding part. However, if your goal is to make the deck look and function better, sanding first is a must.

The general consensus is that two coats of stain are required and since the cedar is siding, a third coat of sealant is always a good idea. This helps protect the wood and stain, so you won’t need to resand and restain for at least a decade. Each stain after the first will darken the wood, so be aware of that when choosing a colored stain.

A five-gallon bucket of deck stain will cover roughly 875 square feet in a single coat. Actual coverage will vary based on the type of wood you’re staining and the number of coats. If you plan on doing multiple coats, multiply the square footage by the number of coats to calculate how many buckets of stain you’ll need.
