"Ralph and Jake did a great job installing our water softener. Once we decided to get a filter/Softener system my wife and I did some internet homework and had 3 companies come out and quote for us. Jake provided the best quote, most comprehensive and he was extremely knowledgeable. East Plano is known for hard water and it can cause problems with appliances and caused dry, itchy skin. The install went great, they were on time and cleaned the site when complete. In just one day we could tell the difference. I really recommend this company and these guys."

"The lady who did our water testing was thorough & informative. The install people were efficient , professional & went to great lengths trying to preserve our lawn while looking for underground water lines. We did encounter an issue with our purchase plan after the fact, but Rick Keck (the GM) spent a great deal of time with us & he exceeded our expectations on a resolution! This is a great company that has good options for water treatment. Combined with a lot of people who do good work & management that cares to make the customers happy if an issue arises."

"They hooked up a new home to an existing water and sewer line. They had to make some repairs to each and add additional PVC to reach the new house. The hook ups are very professionally done. They did everything I wanted in a very timely manner. The work done was excellent."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

To get utilities set up on a property, you first have to contact the local department of planning to determine whether your property is able to connect to public utilities. From there, you can work with a structural engineer and/or a building contractor to design the layout of utility lines on the property. The pros will need this information as they begin securing building permits before they can start adding lines.

If your property isn’t able to connect to public utilities, you’ll need to consider working with pros to develop a comfortable off-grid home that will meet your needs.

You can decide whether you need a water softener or water filter based on how your bathing or laundry experience is. If you notice issues like limescale buildup, dry skin, or stains on dishes—all telltale signs of hard water—you'd likely benefit from a water softener. However, if your main concern is over chemicals or bacteria in your tap water filter, and not just comfort, a filter is a better option.

Experts recommend that you put two to four bags of potassium chloride in your water softener every month. This amount depends on how much is in the bag (40 pounds is most common) and what your water softener manufacturer recommends. For more specific advice, talk to a water softener pro in your area and read the manual that came with your system.

A water softener is a worthwhile investment if you live in an area with hard water. While hard water is safe to drink, it contains minerals like calcium and magnesium that can cause significant problems over time. These minerals build up inside pipes, reducing water flow and eventually corroding the plumbing system, which can lead to leaks and a shortened lifespan. Hard water also damages fixtures and appliances, potentially resulting in costly repairs. Additionally, it makes soaps and detergents less effective, meaning you'll use more product to get things clean. By installing a water softener, you can prevent these issues. The initial investment is often recouped through long-term savings, including lower energy bills, reduced appliance and plumbing maintenance, and spending less on soap and cleaning supplies. Other benefits include cleaner linens, dishes, and clothing, as well as softer water that is gentler on your skin and hair. In some areas, a water softener can also increase your home's value, making it a valuable long-term investment.

No, hard water isn’t dangerous. The added calcium in hard water can contribute to good bone health. However, it can also cause dry skin and hair. If you have dry skin or hair, consider using a water-softening system to help minimize the minerals in your water. Plus, these systems can also add some sodium to your diet.
