"I had a problem with my AC and called them for a service appointment. John Wayne has a good reputation, so I chose to call them and they were quick to respond. The tech who came to my residence was very friendly and professional, however, he seemed more like a sales rep than a technician. After a few hours and $950 worth of work, he indicated that the HVAC system was not repairable. He created a quote for various options to install a new system. I had previously researched average costs for replacement of a 5 ton / 16 SEER system, which averaged approximately $9-10K for a reputable company with reliable brands. The first option the tech provided was for $40,600, which was a little surprising. He offered several options, with the cheapest being $10,700 for the lowest quality equipment and least warranty. He indicated that the primary difference between John Wayne and other companies is the quality and training of the employees. He also used typical sales techniques, such as “why would you feel different tomorrow” when I indicated that I’d prefer to think about the decisive overnight. During research online, I saw that John Wayne uses Amana products, which are a little more expensive but highly rated and manufactured here in Texas. I purchased a system one echelon higher than the lowest priced system for $13,700, still well-above what I was prepare to pay; however, the tech indicated that they would waive the outstanding $950 bill if I purchased the system and they would be able to install the next day. The next morning, four techs arrived, all pleasant and professional; however, only one appeared to be a trained technician, while the other three appeared to be labor for assisting and conducting menial tasks, such as cleaning the ducts. Within the first hour, two of them accidentally shattered several sconces on the chandelier in my dining room when a piece of equipment fell while cleaning a duct. They are still here in my house installing, but I truly feel like paid too much. Again, I don’t doubt that they are a solid company, but feel like was pressed by a salesman rather than a technician when I needed an urgent problem addressed. I believe I could’ve purchased just as good of a system, maybe better, from a reliable company for a few thousand dollars less."

"My experience was literally a nightmare. We have been out of AC since 7/15 and just got it back on 8/18 no thanks to Jason. I had to hire someone else. When it first went out he came over and cleaned out the drains but then we still continued to have the same issue the next day. When I texted him there was no response or an eta when he could come two days went buy and nothing. Finally he sent his other worker to come but I had already called a different company. They diagnosed the issue and Jason ordered the part because it was still under warranty. Took the weekend for the part to come in. He sent Scott to put it in and it still didn’t solve the issue. Jason didn’t even look at it but based on what Scott told him he ordered a new circuit board. Told me he was out of town when I asked him about the part and said it was going to be back ordered two weeks. Waited two weeks reached out Jason and the part was delayed another three days. Then it took him an extra three days to actually come install it even though he kept promising me tomorrow. Tomorrow. Came finally installed the part then said it was the thermostat so I bought a new thermostat. That didn’t work so he said he had to call tech support the next day. Said that tech support said it was my nest and he would come by the next day to install my old thermostat. He didn’t show up for three more days and his response was. “I’ve been in an attic all day. “ or he simply wouldn’t respond. Sent Scott over to install thermostat and it still didn’t work so they took apart and left my machine we wires everywhere and said it needed another part and would be back in the morning. We told him don’t bother coming back. I hired someone else who stayed all day until the job was done. Turns out it was a sensor and had he actually not done a half a**job he would have been able to diagnosis it. The new guy said they messes up things so bad it took him twice the amount of time. I have used Jason for years and will never call him again."

My unit was serviced by them, then they found other issues that need immediate attention like the fan blower for the condenser and the circuit breaker inside the handling unit in attack. Both parts are under warranty by them, I was advised by Alan Rader that the parts are under warranty but not the labor and to call the office for an appointment. I have contacted the office several times and spoke to Heather but I never get a call back. I finally came to the address in person to resolve the issue but there is another business in that office. Next door neighbor said they moved out a long time ago. This is very suspicious."
