Customers say: Quality work

"Manuel and his crew were amazing! The prices were great, especially for the quality of work. We bought a new house and had all of the dark brown kitchen cabinets painted a high gloss light mint color, 3 kitchen ceilings painted, all 3000 square feet of interior walls (which were UGLY and a billion different colors when we bought the property) painted light grey, master bed room ceiling painted a dark grey, 1200 square feet of old carpet and padding upstairs pulled and new put in, 1000 square feet of vinyl plank floors laid over tile downstairs (which included putting down self-leveling concrete first), and a french door that didn't seal when closed fixed. We bought the carpet, padding, and vinyl plank ourselves because we had already picked it out. Everything else was provided by Affordable Painting. Our total out of pocket to Manuel was $6365 with their 10% off Angie's List coupon for interior painting ($1665 for cabinets, $2700 for all painting before AL coupon, $100 for broken door, and $1900 for flooring install) and and it took a total of 7 or 8 days. We plan to eventually have the exterior of the house painted by Manuel and if we ever have other handy work that needs to be done, we'll see if he can do it before anyone else!"

Customers say: Quick response

"The quality of the build was excellent. The builder was always available to answer questions and proved any information needed. All materials used were high quality and specific to the plans of the home. Attention to details was excellent and oversight of sub contractors was always a priority. The finished home is exactly as we expected. Over all rating is 5 star."

"Maria and Jason were fantastic! They came in and placed paper on the floor from the front door to the kitchen cabinets they were painting. The area was taped off and enclosed with plastic. We could not have asked for anything better. Thank you!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

If your biggest concern is making sure your deck doesn’t show dirt, opt for a darker neutral color that blends in well with your surrounding landscape. A rich brown or dark grey are both good options that work with a variety of house colors. A high-quality acrylic paint is easy to clean and maintain, so it might be worth spending the money on.

Your tool of choice ultimately comes down to personal preference. Many DIYers prefer applying stain with a lint-free rag, but others stick with a paint brush or a roller. Wipe the stain and work it into the wood, working with and against the grain. If you’re applying multiple coats, allow the stain to dry for around four hours between coats.

You don’t necessarily have to remove all the old paint before repainting your deck, but it’s best to remove as much as possible to ensure a smooth and long-lasting finish. Prioritize scraping off loose, peeling, or flaking paint, and sand down rough areas to create a smooth surface for the new paint to bond with.

Whether to paint or stain a deck depends on your personal preference for appearance and budget. Stain provides a natural look with a range of undertones, is typically less expensive, and may only require one coat, but it does not last as long as paint. Paint offers a sleeker finish with a virtually unlimited color palette. Both options will protect your deck from outdoor elements like rain, snow, and general wear and tear.

Always sand a deck before repainting so the wood is smooth and ready for paint. While you do not need to fully remove paint before repainting, sanding helps remove any areas with weather and sun damage. Sanding also helps remove chipped or flaking paint and opens the wood pores to improve paint adhesion.
