"Jim Farrell and North Alabama Technical Services rebuilt my computer and provided me with everything I expected and so much more.  He provided the various options in equipment, including specs and pricing, answered all our questions and helped us make the best decision for our purchases.  The computer was completed in a few days, far less than expected, the installation included clear directions for use.  The package also included a good warranty for the equipment.  I was extremely pleased with his service and would not hesitate to recommend his company to anyone with computer service needs."

"They did in about 1 and a half hour, they were just really fast. Mr. Reid and his crew worked inside and outside and they were done very quickly. Mr. Reid worked inside with the heating unit, and his crew worked on the air conditioning unit outside the house. Mr. Reid added Freon on my air conditioning unit 2 days before the installation of the new units but it only lasted about 24 hours. so the check that was used to pay for the Freon, he just took it off on the price of the installation of the new one. I have great praises for Mr. Reid, he worked with me with the new unit and everything worked out well. It is a warranted unit, so he'll provide the warranty works and just make sure that it gets serviced every year. I have recommended him to my friends and families."

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

Deciding whether or not to replace radiators with a different heating system depends on your personal preferences. Radiators can take longer to heat up than a central heating system, and they take up floor space. However, they can be very efficient at heating, and they keep rooms at a more comfortable humidity level in the winter than forced-air systems.

Costs depend on issue severity, parts needed, and labor rates.

Boiler installations and replacements cost between $3,600 to $8,400. Expect to pay around $5,900 on average for a new boiler, including installation. Adding new radiators or heaters to the boiler may include separate costs if you are also upgrading those components, so the final price may be higher. To decrease costs, you can look for local energy rebates for using a boiler and wait until installers are offering discounts for a first-time installation.

In most cases, repairing a radiator is more affordable than replacing it. A typical repair may cost between $100 and $200, while a replacement can average $1,500, with a range of $250 to $2,500 depending on the unit type. Radiator issues are often simple fixes for a professional, such as a blown fuse, malfunctioning thermostat, or a loose valve, and can take less than an hour. However, if the long-term costs of fixing the radiator are higher than replacement, it's better to get a new model. It is recommended to consult a heating expert to diagnose the problem and determine the best solution for your situation.

Hydronic and standard electric baseboard heaters differ in how they operate, their cost, and their performance. Standard convection heaters use electric coils to heat the air directly, while hydronic heaters warm a contained liquid like water or oil, which then radiates heat into the room.

In terms of cost and efficiency, hydronic heaters usually have a higher upfront price but are more energy-efficient and cheaper to run over time. This is because the heated liquid retains warmth, allowing the heater to continue providing heat for a while after the thermostat turns it off. In contrast, electric heaters provide heat more quickly but are less efficient.

Ultimately, the better choice depends on your priorities. If you need a room to heat up fast and have a lower initial budget, an electric heater might be suitable. If long-term energy savings are more important and you don't mind a slower heat-up time, a hydronic heater is likely the better option.
