"Rick and his crew are dependable, honest and knowledgeable of good construction practices. They keep you informed at all times and are friendly to work with. The quality of their work is very good and they can handle most if not all of your exterior siding and roofing needs. They were hired to replace siding on second level of my two story house and paint all t111 siding and trim boards. Reasonably priced Job well done. I would highly recommend them."

"David was easy and professional to work with , I had my house reroofed painted and new windows along with some siding replacement all done at the same time my home was built in 1984 so I had issues finding siding that matched what was on my house. I talked with David about the siding and he found a perfect match he also coordinated all of the repairs flawlessly. With three different companies working on my house at the same time I really expected deadlines and finish dates to run over. David and Spartan roofing as well as the other contract companies that David hired (painters , siding and windows) all did a really good job and finished on schedule with attention to detail and great craftsmanship It was to easy and hassle free as the customer, I would highly recommend Spartan roofing for your homes roof but also for general contract work as well David made a customer for life with me he was a man of his word on everything he did for us I personally appreciate your efforts on my house David"

Siding questions, answered by experts

Stucco is considered a type of cladding because it includes a built-in ventilation layer, a weatherproof membrane beneath that, and, often, a layer of insulation to improve building efficiency. The multiple layers of stucco—the scratch coat, the brown coat, and the finish coat—also create a more complex building membrane, so it’s more accurate to call it cladding. However, homeowners and contractors alike refer to stucco as siding.

Composite siding is very resistant to warping that can affect some other sidings. Because of its composition, this siding doesn’t have the same risks of moisture damage that can cause rotting, buckling, and warping. Composite material doesn’t warp in high temperatures the way some kinds of vinyl siding can.

That said, composite siding is not entirely immune from moisture damage. It should still be properly installed so that moisture can properly drain from behind the siding, and protected by eaves and clean gutter so the siding doesn’t get repeatedly soaked by rain, which could lead to damage.

Many modern homes have soffits, but older ones don’t, and you may be wondering why. Older homes have eaves that extend further beyond the home and help to circulate air, negating the need for a soffit. This style of building has faded away, therefore, modern homes need separate soffit installation. Modern soffits are more efficient than this older style and require less material to construct, saving homeowners money.

Many people remove aluminum siding to get to the wood underneath, allowing them to paint, stain, or finish the wood to give the home a brand-new aesthetic. With that in mind, you find plywood and related types of wood underneath aluminum siding, but you also run into fiber cement board, strand board, and a diverse array of other building materials. It depends on the original design of the house.

Vinyl siding is the cheapest option in terms of upfront costs. The average cost to install vinyl siding is around $12,173, with certain types like vinyl shake, clapboard, or dutch lap costing as little as $2 to $3 per square foot. While vinyl is very low-cost, it may not last as long as natural materials or metal, with a typical lifespan of 20 to 40 years. In contrast, metal siding is more expensive initially but can save you money in the long run due to its longer lifespan, which is often double that of vinyl. It's recommended to consult a siding professional to determine if the lowest-cost option is the best material for your specific home.
