"The plan on this job was to protect the pool from collecting debris with a plastic tarp. In the demolition process, the crew damaged several coping bricks. The framing, rebar, concrete pour and stamping went otherwise OK. They were late removing the tarp due to needing to work on the brick, and it later rained, covering the tarp with water. Joe offered to cover the coping brick damage, sending a guy at the end of other jobs to chip the broken bricks out over the course of the coming week. He damaged a finish tile. Also, the number of “damaged” bricks seemed to increase as we went along. We were not able to remove the tarp when anticipated due to the additional coping demo, and it stayed on over the rains leading up to the 4th of July weekend. Joe's original plan was to clear any water from the surface of the tarp with a submersible pump, removing the debris along with the tarp. This did not work due to the amount of water that had collected. He cut the tarp to remove it, with the debris falling in the pool. After a few days of brick chipping, I started asking for a new schedule. Joe told me to call the office. I asked this question repeatedly, sharing my frustration with the way the job was going. She eventually told me to talk to Joe when he arrived with the crew on July 9. When he appeared on the 9th, he went back to check on his guy and quickly went back to his truck. I flagged him down to give him a spare finish tile and ask my scheduling question. He drove away while I was talking, indicating that he had to get to another job. I waited for a while, then called the office to complain about being disrespected and still not having a schedule. I was angry on this call, but did not yell or use profanity. Joe returned to my home later that morning. I opened the door when I saw him. He came at me with balled up fists calling me names and threatening to beat me. He felt I had been inappropriate with the “seventy year old woman” who answers the phone at the office. He threatened to beat me again, called me some more names, and walked of the job. I have a recording of most of this interaction from my Ring doorbell camera. This was an $8000.00 job. I have paid everything save $650.00 that was due at the end. I will likely incur expenses that exceed this amount in having the work completed, if I can get a contractor to finish the job. Additionally, my pool service company indicates that they will charge $1500 to clean the construction debris and another $1500 to restart the pool. There will be additional expense in replacing the water to be drained in the cleaning process. So if you don't mind a contractor that bullies his way out of a job with threats of physical violence when things go south, Houston Solid Concrete is for you. Otherwise, steer clear. They only get 1 start because 0 is not an option."

"I am really impressed with the honesty of the two that came out to do the work. After looking at the project and walking through the process, it was decided that this method wasn't going to be a good option. Honesty is really important to me. Thank you for the honesty and for not just doing the work because sales sold it. I appreciate you and will call with future needs!"

With more than 11 years of experience in the industry, there is no job too big for us to handle. From Foundation Repair, Driveways, stamped concrete, and patios slabs, to full foundations, we are your 1 stop shop. Call us today for a free estimate!

"Horrible! I wish I could give this NO STARS! Naji the head contractor basically left the employees that did not speak any English, did not inspect the work and took no accountability for the actions. The workers tripped a circuit that controlled the outside plugs and garage outlets, which caused my freezer in the garage to go out. No one alerted me instead used the neighbors outside plug to continue their work. This was not discovered until I went to prepare for a catering contracted event. I own a small catering business and everything in my freezer spoiled because no one alerted me of the tripped plug. I checked on them and no one made any reference to an issue. I discovered this when I went to prepare for an event. The work was also poorly done. I have videos as well as the neighbors testimony. I lost a client and paid more for breech of contract and the poorly done work. I was offered $150 for my trouble. I lost over 9000 including the amount paid for this poorly done work. Not to mention my business reputation. Do not recommend for anyone. Find another company."

Concrete Leveling questions, answered by experts

If the moisture level in your concrete flooring is higher than what is acceptable for your primer or flooring materials, then you are looking at dealing with major flooring issues down the road. From mold and mildew, to warping, buckling, bubbling, and soft spots, you could see a wide range of moisture-induced problems.

These issues can affect not just your flooring but your foundation too. That is why measuring moisture in concrete is so important before starting a project.

You can use soil and gravel instead of concrete when setting fence posts. However, concrete is more durable and longer lasting, so it's worth considering if you want your fence to withstand the test of time. You should especially consider concrete if you live in a region that experiences severe weather, which can damage your fence.

Yes, concrete lasts much longer than other common building materials. For example, asphalt lasts between 15 and 30 years on average, a small fraction of concrete's 50- to 100-year life span. Stone pavers on driveways and patios will last between 20 and 25 years without major repair. In other words, concrete is your best bet for long-term investment and minimal upkeep.

Thicker concrete is less likely to crack due to extreme weather changes. At a minimum, concrete slabs should be at least 4 inches, but if you’re worried about the concrete cracking under the weight of heavy machinery or from the freeze-thaw patterns of your climate, you should use even thicker concrete. A professional concrete company near you will be able to advise on the best thickness for your climate and use case.

Yes, you can remove concrete by hand with a sledgehammer if the concrete is no more than 4 inches thick. Most patios and sidewalks fit into this category. With concrete deeper than 6 inches, a jackhammer may be necessary to break it up. Only use a jackhammer if you have the proper training and safety equipment.
