Kitchen/Family Room Remodel 01-02/2023 Scope: Remodel included kitchen area and family room, plus laundry room and walk-in pantry—a total of about 600 sq ft. . Area was last remodeled in 1992—when new cabinets were built in-place. Capmire Projects’ remodel included: painting all wood cabinetry (inside and outside), baseboards & wood trim, wood doors, walls and ceiling; replacing: tile floor, countertops, backsplash, plumbing & sinks, all electrical outlets and switches, hvac vents, undercabinet lights, and all ceiling lights—including 11 cans and a chandelier over kitchen table. Modifications in cabinetry were made in the laundry room and pantry to add more shelf space. Drawer slide-hardware was replaced to provided smooth operation. Process: Capmire’s team arrived on 01/16/2023 and the entire job was completed 24 days later on 02/08/2023. Work proceeded every day, except Sundays, from about 8:00am to 5:00pm. Subcontractors were used on plumbing, electrical work, spray painting, and quartz countertop installation. We were kept informed on what would be done each day—either by Cameron Capps, the job manager or by Roberto Mejia, the job foreman. None of our questions were discounted or ignored. Honesty was paramount on everyone’s part. Change orders were easily dispatched—especially when they were decided before it became onerous to do so. The quality of work is excellent, and we are very satisfied with the final product. It should be mentioned that the homeowner is responsible for selecting and purchasing all finishing hardware (cabinet knobs and pulls, for example), two sinks, faucets, light fixtures, and new appliances (two garbage disposals and microwave). Budgets are included in the bid for slabs and tile. Clearly, the selection and availability of these items during the progression of the job is a determinant in reducing the time span of the project. Recommendations: We spent two weeks packing up and moving everything from the work space. Boxes of kitchen items, artworks, etc. were moved to a bedroom not in use. Furniture was moved to an adjacent living room/dining room area—where plastic zipper doors were employed to keep dust isolated to the work space. Dust was undoubtedly minimized, but it still invaded—try to cover as much as possible with plastic sheets. Remodeling is not necessarily an easy or unmessy process—but it can be made much more difficult by messy workers and poor management. ( I know this fact from experience with other contractors.) Final Review: Without question, we can recommend Capmire Projects for any remodeling needed. In 2015, Cameron Capps and company remodeled our master bath. When, we decided to embark on the kitchen remodel in 2023, we did not hesitate to call him in again. His honest and rigorous management of the project; his retention of good workers and selection of good quality subcontractors; plus his experienced cost estimations combine to create a satisfying experience for the homeowners. Final Total Cost: $43,800.00.

Cameron and his team did an AMAZING job at refinishing my bathtub! I had a bathtub that was already in bad shape due to poor care from the previous owners of my home, but during the freeze keeping water in the tub ended up making the paint on the tub crack and peel severely. I contacted Cameron and he was able to send out someone within the same week to have my tub refinished! Herman showed up on time, worked quickly and cleaned up after himself, and did an incredible job at refinishing my badly damaged tub, and now it looks good as new! I'd absolutely hire through Capmire Projects again for future bathroom repair and remodel jobs, and fully intend to do so in the future.

Capmire is the way to go. We had a 9 week complete kitchen remodel. Walls removed with a kitchen floor plan change. Custom cabinets built on-site with new tile floor in entry and first floor. Granite counter tops were fabricated on-site. Water line and gas line rerouted, painting and new electrical for can lights. We believe our project went smoothly for two reasons: 1) we knew exactly what we wanted to do and had already researched materials and 2) Capmire has an impressive team. They called in all the right people for every aspect of the job. They offered advice along the way while keeping our dream kitchen their priority. Capmire's work ethic is beyond compare; they were honest, completely respectful of our home and were always on-time! If the client isn't happy, their job isn't finished and it shows in their work. They have impeccable craftsmen on their team and they are proud of their work. We are proud of their work!!! We were so excited to have our dream kitchen finally, but we were also sad to see them go. Working with Cameron was excellent and we would definitely hire him again. We remodeled our 1950s bathroom to a modern one that we absolutely love now. Cameron excels in communication and responsiveness — in a world where no one can get a hold of their contractor, Cameron was never more than a text message or email away. He kept all of his appointments and always arrived on time. His crew was fantastic, also arriving on time and sometimes staying late to finish the job. They worked very heard and were extremely friendly and professional. Cameron kept very clear schedules, always updating us at the beginning of the week with what would happen over that week. The workmanship is solid and we could not be happier with the final turnout. Having never been through a remodel before, I imagine it doesn’t go more smooth than this!

Very well. The quality of materials and craftmanship was top notch. Extra attention to detail was needed, as our old house (built in 1922) has uneven floors. Of particular note, Cameron provided a very ambitious time schedule, and kept to it. The entire project--from demo day to punch list--was completed as promised, in 3 weeks.

It went quickly! Cameron had all his crews (demo, stone, electrical, plumber) so organized that almost everything was done in 2 days. He came by 2-3 times daily to see how things were going. ALL his people worked really hard, especially Roger the plumber. Cameron was patient when we changed the project from new, taller cabinets etc. in one bathroom, to counter tops, sinks, etc. in TWO bathrooms. The project leader wasn't useful, but Cameron caught issues, so it all worked out. We would definitely recommend Capmire Projects.

Crew went about the job in a workman like fashion, stayed on schedule, and cleaned up every evening. Cameron, the owner, checked in with me at least once or twice a day to keep me updated and see if i had any concerns. We are happy with the quality of the work.

The bathroom feels twice as big as it did before, despite no walls moving. There are a few reasons I highly recommend them and we'll be using them again: (1) clear communication. Cameron was in regular contact with us if anything came up providing immediate details about potential issues and corresponding cost. In our case this was the shower pan and drain needing to be completely re-done once they took all the tile off and noticed damage. (2) His employees were very friendly, careful and competent. Our bathroom was clearly redone by professionals. The herringbone tile is perfect and they were perfectionists about it. They also took care not to damage our hardwood floors with their foot traffic and even regularly put plastic sheets up covering our nearby infant son's bedroom door so NO dust or odor would get in his room. (3) The quote was very accurate and change orders were processed very professionally. My husband and I both touch quotes/contracting/change orders with our professions and have pretty high expectations for accuracy and honesty. We got both. (4) We may be unusual in that we new we wanted to re-do our bathroom, but we didn't know exactly what we wanted the shower to look like etc. Cameron recommended a tile company to us, with an employee Brenna, who was both very patient and very talented. We absolutely love our bathroom design and could not have come up with something better ourselves.

Mr. Capps was on time and always very sensible. He explained all procedures in detail and worked with us in our wishes. Pricing was reasonable. The project was completed in the expected time frame; only the glass door took a bit to be ready. Overall very satisfied.

Cameron did a good job with a very difficult situation. He was very organized and calm and professional. His subcontractors did a good job; the new bathroom looks very sharp.
The difficulty that we encountered was that I ordered a Sterling Vikrell tub that was a complete tub and surround in 4 pieces that fit together - no grout, tile or caulk needed. It also had a 10 year warranty, so I thought, great idea! But after the tub was installed, while they were installing the surround, they discovered a crack in the surround. A closer look revealed a crack in the tub as well. So Build.com sent me a new tub. When it was delivered, I made the poor delivery guy wait while I ripped open the package and discovered that the new surround was cracked in the same place and the new tub was cracked in the same place. Time out! I changed course and ordered an Americast tub from a local retailer. And when the plumber opened it up, guess what! There was a huge bullet-sized hole in the tub. A new tub was sent out the next day and fortunately, it was OK. But this string of bad tubs cost me more money (I had to then to tiling on the walls) and strung out the timeline.
Cameron was able to re-shuffle scheduling to accommodate this situation and get back in the saddle as soon as possible.
Cameron's communication is good; he always responds to emails and phone calls. He did have a bit of trouble communicating with the electrical guy, who seemed to have no idea what he was supposed to be doing.
The only thing I would say that could have been improved would be to use the joint compound more sparingly.

Capmire Projects did a remodel of our kitchen, and the results are excellent! Cameron was wonderful to work with, as were all of the people who worked on the project. They were all extremely professional, trustworthy, and dependable. This is the first type of remodeling project we have had done, and it was pretty painless. Except for two days, we were able to use our sink, microwave, and refrigerator throughout the month-long project, and the workers did their best to clean up after themselves each day. All in all, we could not be more pleased with the work that was done and would not hesitate to use Capmire Projects again. Super service and results all around!

This was not the best remodel we have been through. The final product was adequate (but with issues) and the overall level of service leaves something to be desired. Both the owner and the owners brother bid for the job in person. They were willing to work with us on using IKEA cabinetry and appliances so that was a huge plus. Some of the pros and cons included:
Pros:
Overall, kitchen turned out well.
Price was reasonable compared to other bids we received.
During the remodel, PM was responsive by both phone and text.
Cleaning was included in their cost and the cleaning crew did an excellent job at the end of the work.
Cons:
House was treated like a work zone, not someone's home. The PM had to clean our bathroom a few times because he was embarrassed by the mess that was left (and it was indeed gross).
Electrical subs refused to keep doors shut in the house during hot summer days. My 1 YO daughter received numerous mosquito bites.
Workers left our back gate open one day and both of our Labs got out and into the neighborhood.
Continuously had to check up on their work. Found bad measurements, placement of cabinets, spotty paint jobs, etc throughout the job.
Warranty issues will be vigorously contested, if at all honored.
Lastly, some time after the initial work was complete, we noticed the bar top was unusually high. We did not notice this until many months after they were done once we purchased bar stools. It was a full 6 inches higher than standard. We contacted the owner who denied that bar tops had a standard height. Once we showed him and he admitted that indeed bar tops do have a standard height (he finally called it common, not standard), he then claimed that I had requested the unusual bar height verbally with both the PM (who is also his brother) and the carpenter (I had not requested anything like this), thus making it not a warranty issue. He also said we signed something saying we were 100% satisfied with the work they did (which I did indeed sign). I have gone through many remodels and have family in the business (interior designers and contractors) and to a man, they all said there is indeed a standard to bar heights just like with counter tops. A simple google search will show you that as well. But alas, he refused to agree that this was a mistake on their part, citing the agreement that I had signed.
After two months of emails back and forth, he finally agreed to partially cover the cost of lowering the bar height. It took another full month of emails back and forth to finally get the work done (we did cancel one of the days due to a sick baby).

edThis has to be one of the most rewarding and easier remodeling experiences I have had (out of four in the past). Every tradesman used by Capmire was professional and expert. This is important because you don't just hire a contractor---you hire everyone with whom they work.
Campire's crew, including the tile setters, painters, and carpenters, was fantastic. Their work was beautiful; their work ethic was efficient and considerate--I was truly impressed.
Southern Plumbing did the plumbing work: the shower pan was deemed "picture perfect" by the city inspector; the finish work done by this company was outstanding--they even saved me $200.00 by insisting that some truly upgraded products recommended by Kohler were not necessary.
Beau Chandler Co. did the electrical work---again outstanding--indeed going the extra mile to match all of the electrical covers in white.
Absolute Glass did the shower glass--another outstanding job--the guys were instructed to cut my water-damaged mirrors 2 inches on each side--but they milled the edges instead to extract the least amount of material and leave me with the most coverage possible.
The crews cleaned up each day--and involved as minimal disruption of our lives as possible.
Of course, we passed each of our city inspections without exception.
The final production is beautiful; I am VERY pleased. Cameron Capps estimated six weeks for the job---but they were essentially done in 3 1/2 weeks---except for the installation of the shower glass--which, of course, is tailor-made for the location.
The bid price for this project was not the cheapest---but the quality of work and the professionalism exhibited was worth any extra pennies. BTW--my actual cost was LESS than Cameron's bid!!

-Southern Plumbing did the repiping. I appreciated the fact that they were willing to allow the drywall specialist to accompany him during the estimate informing him of the damage in the wall that would occur. That way I was able to get an estimate for the entire project. Team was very professional during the repiping process.
-Mario did most of the drywall repair and painting. He did an excellent job. Leo did a great job of coordinating and supervising the work. He was very helpful when I changed my mind about the paint color at the last minute.
-Installation of the granite by Granite Masers went very smoothly.
-When Chris with Southern Plumbing came back to install the new faucets after the countertop was installed, he found that one of the faucets I had ordered via the webwas defective. He laid out the options for me and helped me to decide the best action to take. I appreciate the fact that once he knew my wishes, he called his supervisor and Cameron to get the ball rolling. Cameron was able to find a replacement and the installation of both faucets was completed that same day. Everyone worked together to make it happen.
-In the middle of the project, we had a death in our extended family which necessitated attending the funeral out of town. Everyone worked with me to continue the work on the house and keep it safe while we were gone.
-Throughout the entire project, attention was paid to details. Everyone listened to my wants and needs.

1. Shower conversion looks great and is exactly what we wanted. There was a little delay is receiving the tile ordered, but the end product was great. Robert, who installed the tile, was excellent and very receptive to requests. He was very good at problem solving issues. He could foresee problems with the tile layout as designed and problem-solve to my upmost satisfaction. He avoided a patch-work look on the shower bench and made it look great.
2. Workmanship on the guest bath and kitchen was superb! Minor issues I had were promptly addressed and fixed. Jose did a good job with the painting.
3. Cameron and Casey were very responsive to all my questions and concerns. No project like this ever goes without glitzes and they were good at problem-solving. I especially appreciate the promptness of Cameron in responding to a concern I had after I had signed off on everything.

The actual renovation of the bathroom went like a typical reno project. There were some delays and misunderstandings but overall the final result was quite nice. It took longer than expected by about ten days and there were days when nothing happened which was a little frustrating but not unexpected. Not all delays were their fault. Waiting for inspections, etc. The end result was very nice and I am very pleased with it. I got a few bids for the work and Capmire was competitive.
I gave them an A on price not because they were the cheapest but all the bids were within about $300 so price became a non-issue for me. The bid was detailed and the final numbers, with changes etc., came in within a few hundred dollars. Actually a little less due to canceling some of the things in the initial bid. I received the refund check quickly too. Finally, I liked the idea of working with two young guys who happen to be brothers and came across as very conscientious about building their business.
The bathroom remodel was to convert an old bathroom into a handicapped shower/bathroom for my elderly parents. The end product not only addressed the safety needs but also created a beautiful bathroom that does not look like a handicapped bathroom at all. It is very modern, clean lines and safe.
I was going to use them for some additional work and received a bid but due to some of the changes I wanted, Casey asked me to get with Cameron about getting a new bid. Cameron said Casey had given me a bid and so it went?..Probably not a big enough job to be bothered with since the housing and renovation market is booming right now in Houston. That's fine but just wanted to have them tell me they weren't interested as opposed to the back and forth. Also had a couple of problems with trash pick up but it was ultimately resolved.
Their work is very good and the final outcome was very nice. I may still try to use them in the future but I do think they need more help.
I gave them an A on price not because they were the cheapest but all the bids were within about $300 so price became a non-issue for me. The bid was detailed and the final numbers, with changes etc., came in within a few hundred dollars. Actually a little less due to canceling some of the things in the initial bid. I received the refund check quickly too. Finally, I liked the idea of working with two young guys who happen to be brothers and came across as very conscientious about building their business.

I would never tell a client we will get them a bid and then avoid them. On 12/8/14 I asked if you would like for me to come out I would, but I never got a response back, or I would have offered a bid for you with no problems. We enjoyed working for you, so there would be no reason for us not to want to work with you again. If we don't want the work or its not something we do, we will tell you I assure you. I don't know where the communication broke down on that, but I promise I will look in to it. If you would still like us to come and rebid for your work, please let us know and we will gladly come out. Sorry for any inconvenience.
