Work started on October 10th. Throughout the work process, my husband or I would ask him about details like "what about this issue right here" or "why does that look like that". Every time, he would say, it will be fixed and look nicer when it's done. He text us pictures of the finished work on October 13th and it looked great, but in person, it was a disaster. Dirt, dead bugs, and other particles stuck under the wax coating. The shine wasn't nearly what he said it would be. Drops of the stain visible in numerous spots. A spot where he "tested" the stain color was in the middle of my bathroom when I told him there would be a pedestal sink NOT a vanity (he said he would fix it but clearly didn't). He didn't even bother covering the walls before spraying the stain so my beadboard is sprayed with grey stain. Worse, he didn't bother moving the water heater OR removing closet doors. So he put the overlay around it. Yes, my water heater pan is now cemented into the floor. The 1" thick white overlay they did was not properly leveled so furniture wobbles. It also wasn't sanded down smooth so it's jagged and you can see the brush strokes of the trowel. We also just recently discovered that he broke our hall bathroom toilet. The bowl is completely cracked and unusable. We had to buy another for $175. We had other work going on in the house and didn't see these issues until the following week. My husband called him on October 20th and was very unhappy. He said Trey was very condescending and standoffish, which makes sense because he had already been paid IN FULL!!! My husband told him he needs to come fix it. Since we both work during the day, it's not easy for us to go meet him, but this is the only time he claimed he could come look at the floors to make a "plan" to fix them. My husband asked if he can be there before 10am any morning and he said he couldn't. We had to work around HIS schedule. He doesn't even care that my husband said we were going to give him a bad review on Yelp and BBB if he doesn't fix it. He came by on November 12th and, in between him cursing at his young children, my husband showed him all the issues. His response to everything was "that's not a big deal, I can fix that." He was supposed to come by November 15th at 5pm but no one was there when my husband got there. My husband called him and Trey said they should be there by 6. My husband called and text Trey until 8pm, but no one never showed up. Then Trey claimed he thought my husband was another client. So I'm not sure he ever intended to come by. He and my husband text back and forth and my husband told him we'd have to send him to small claims court. His response was "Okay that's fine my uncle is one of the best civil litigators in houston. You will just end up oweing him money." My husband and I have all the texts. He then said he can still do touchup, but that is not what is required to fix the floors. It needs to be completely redone. I also found out from his very late response to the BBB yesterday that he apparently recorded his and my husbands last meeting, which we absolutely DID NOT give him permission to do.
Description of Work: We hired him on September 17th to put in concrete floors in our house after the 3rd year in a row of flooding for $8,850.

I hired Frank and Trey Cameron to build a patio in my back yard. An original invoice detailing the work was submitted and agreed upon. Some of the work has been completed, although at less than a professional level. The yard was not leveled before pouring the concrete, and there are already cracks appearing. Crude holes were cut out for gutters rather than installing proper equipment. Concrete was splashed onto the house. The edges of the cut-outs are crumbling. The electrical work Frank Cameron installed was done without a permit and included the following problems: - Used 1/2" conduit with Romex interior rated wire on an exterior project - Less than 6" below grade - Illegal wiring run into breaker box, hooked to circuits too small for voltage The electrical wiring and gas lines he has run are illegal, as Frank and Trey Cameron are unlicensed. I?m not sure who to report this to. I will have to have the entire electrical job redone by a licensed company with a permit. The gas lines run are inadequate and unlicensed. I will have to have a licensed plumber redo the entire job, resulting in part of the poured concrete pad having to be demolished and repoured. The house needs to be repainted where concrete was splashed on it and scraped off. Corners of the back yard reek where the workers went to the bathroom . No outlet doors were built in the structures that will be required for access to the gas connections. Those will have to be built into existing structures. Bags of trash and other debris were left behind. There are maggots, etc. in the trash that was left behind. Bags of masonry concrete will need to be hauled away. Nasty leftover food in foil, scrap stone, chunks of concrete, water bottles, soda cans, and other garbage were left in the back yard. I last spoke with Frank Cameron on June 6, 2013, when he asked for more money, supposedly because 3 of his checking accounts ?had been hacked?. I refused to give him another payment. Within 2 hours, I had received a new invoice with additional charges and increased charges from the original invoice. Frank Cameron still has the opener to my property gate, my gate padlock is missing, my hose storage box is broken, and 2 garden gnomes, an extension cord, and new spotlights are covered in concrete. 6/13/13 - I?ve sent Frank 3 or 4 emails asking for updates and the whereabouts of my missing items, and I left a voicemail with Trey Cameron. All have gone unanswered. Frank Cameron has 2 civil complaints registered against him in Nueces County, and both judgments were for the plaintiffs. There are additional complaints at www.ripoffreport.com The company has an F rating at the BBB. Per the other review of this company on this site, I concur with everything the consumer wrote. They use really cheap materials and lie about the cost. Frank bought a low voltage transformer at Home Depot, telling me it was $100. I looked it up. It was about $70. The laborers they use are not skilled. They made a huge mess, and they left their trash around on a daily basis.
Description of Work: I hired Frank and Trey Cameron to build a stained concrete patio with a counter for a built-in grill and a long fire pit. They were supposed to start around April 17th, and the estimated time to get the job done per the invoice was 6-8 days. Here we are at June 13th, and the work was not completed. Frank walked away from the job after I mentioned permits.

We got a quote from Frank Cameron (the father) for the work who repeatedly said they were going to add a concrete microtopping and then stain and seal it. We had a great impression of him and he had an ipad which he showed us their work on. Seemed to be knowledgeable of the industry. We accepted their quote and a few days later Trey Cameron (the son) started the work. They said it would take 3-5 days and in total it did take 3 days. The first day they did repair work on the floors and redo some concrete steps in the den. This actually went ok. The second day they put down what they claimed was a microtopping. The third day they put down the dye and sealer. Before putting down the dye and sealer Trey asked us if the walls were finished and we said that yes, they were going to remain as is so to be careful to not get the dye on the walls. Well, they obviously ignored that cause almost every wall had dye on it so it has to all be painted again. They also managed to get concrete on quite a few walls which is going to be a pain to get off. I had to wait a day before I could walk the floor since the sealer had to dry. But when we finally did we were appalled at the workmanship. Their was concrete dripping over edges. In most corners the concrete was pooled due to sloppy troweling. Also, there were a few spots where they had egregiously spilled stain. It looks like in spots the sealer wasn't applied. Throughout the floor there were excessive trowel marks and the floor was very rough and grainy to the touch with tons of ridges and indentations. I would never walk barefoot on the floor. It's basically horrible. I then investigated the materials they had used cause I took note of that and found out that the material is only supposed to be used for patching and definitely not as a microtopping. I even contacted the manufacturer who said that the material was not supposed to be used as a decorative topping like Artisan did on my floor. So not only was the workmanship abysmal but the materials were incorrect and was the cause for the rough and grainy feel. A microtopping is supposed to be smooth and uniform in texture. I feel as if they literally defrauded me. They told me they would use a microtopping (both verbally and in the proposal) but instead slapped some cheap material down which in no way shape or form is a microtopping. They might have been able to get away with it if the workmanship was good but it wasn't. They used obviously non-skilled low wage day laborers to do the work, which I should have taken issue with, my mistake. I was expecting skilled labor and possibly even Trey to be doing the work due to the price they were charging. I speak spanish and in remodeling the house have been hiring both skilled/unskilled labor directly and had quotes for literally half as much as Trey/Artisan but went with Artisan cause I was hoping for excellent quality. But I ended up getting worse quality because I believe Trey was rushing the labor to finish so he could keep his profit margins as high as possible while totally disregarding quality. After the work was done my wife brought up the issues with Trey of some of the poor workmanship and set up a time to meet. He did not show up at the designated time and started ignoring our calls. I ended up telling Frank (Trey's dad) that we couldn't get a hold of Trey and the issues we had. He said he'd tell Trey and have him call us back. Of course he didn't so I called from number he wouldn't recognize and what do you know, he answered. He said he thought we could not see eye to eye and there was no reason to meet up. He said he liked how the floors turned out and so wasn't going to address any of the issues and said so with quite the arrogant tone. I ended up suggesting some solutions via email since he stopped taking my calls as did his father Frank. While he was talking to me he lied repeatedly about a number of things (for example cost of materials, i knew the price and where he bought it from). In summary not only is their workmanship horrendous but they lie about the services they provide and defrauded me by knowingly giving me the wrong product which is completely inferior to the product that was supposed to be used. Personally I believe they are literally criminals. They also have the worst service I've ever had after they have your money. Edit to respond to contractor: Trey came to the job site AFTER we had torn up the floors (and saw the concrete removed) and to give us some money back. Floors were eventually tiled. He had agreed to give us some money back and has since only paid $300. We did pay in full at the end and only realized how horrific the work was after we could walk on it.
Description of Work: The overall job was to add a concrete microtopping and then dye and seal it on 1184 sq ft of the downstairs of our house. Also redo some steps in the den.

Response from Artisan of Texas
When I was done with said work the customers liked the work I had done and paid the balance. It was a very nice job the workmanship was fine. Their issue was with trowel marks and frankly all concrete micro-toppings have trowel marks. Further more my " unskilled" workers are professional concrete finishers, who work with me everyday. They may not speak English, but I speak Spanish and this is not a problem. I've been doing this kind of work since I was 18, about 14 years, Ive had this company for just about as long. I know what it's supposed to look like. I offered to remove the floor and return their money. They want their money back and to keep the floor. I have a problem with that. Sincerely Trey Cameron
