"We hired Jonathan of J&V Construction to work on a series of small remodel projects for the interior and exterior of our house. He was very polite and professional. He communicated well, adhered to the schedule we agreed on, and had fair pricing. We appreciated that he regularly asked for feedback to make sure the job was progressing correctly. He made sure we were happy with the finished project before leaving the job site. He was also very respectful of the property, making sure to keep the area safe and cleared of debris."

"This is a husband and wife company and there work is outstanding. I hire them to paint my cabinets and they went the extra mile. I was told to reface some with panels because of water damage. They replaced them and only charge me for the material used. I am so thrill with their work that I hired them to take down the popcorn ceiling on the house, texture and paint same. They are doing a great job on the ceiling too. Their prices are fair and the results of there work is awesome. I would recommmend them for any work needed again."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Plastering and skimming are two different techniques for finishing walls. Plastering involves applying a thick layer of a plaster mixture—typically containing gypsum, lime, cement, sand, and water—to create a new surface. This process often requires multiple coats and is used for repairing significant damage or creating decorative textures. Skimming, on the other hand, is a technique that involves applying a thin layer of drywall compound or joint compound over an existing surface to smooth it out, covering minor imperfections, small cracks, or uneven textures for a polished look. Plastering is generally more costly and labor-intensive than skimming. Although some people use the terms interchangeably, they refer to different processes and materials.

Drywall mudding can be done in one day if the project is small and the desired effect isn’t too complex. If you need multiple layers of mud, one day may not be realistic. But a single room that requires little more than joint compound on the seams and screws can be done in a day or two.

Applying spackle is a simple DIY project that most people can complete in just a few hours. Even homeowners who have little DIY experience can complete this project in an afternoon. However, if you're uncomfortable with the project or don't have the time, you can always hire a pro to help.

When choosing materials for finishing basement walls, consider factors such as moisture resistance, durability, and fire resistance. Opt for materials specifically designed for basement environments, like moisture-resistant drywall or cement board. Insulation with vapor barriers can help regulate temperature and prevent condensation. Consider using mold-resistant paints or coatings.

Research and consult with experts to select materials that are suitable for your specific basement conditions and intended use. Prioritize quality and compatibility to achieve long-lasting and aesthetically pleasing results.

It’s always better to follow proven drywall repair tips and fix the seams that look bad. However, if you simply want to make them less noticeable until you have time to fix them, you can use paint. A darker color of paint makes bad drywall tape seams less noticeable than light-colored paint. Matte paint hides bad seams better than glossy paint does, too.
