I am concerned that this oily residue is also now on an area where other cleaning was done and where there is new (less than 1 mo old) carpeting."

That said, they get the carpets very clean and they can even treat pet stains/odors. We had that issue last time after our dog had been ill. This time they just did the standard cleaning. I also have them clean 2 rugs while they're here and it works beautifully. Jordan and his wife are very friendly, always on time, and do a really good job.
