"Made Me Happy And Worked Around My Schedule The Glass Guru has met my expectations and made me happy. In fact, they made me so happy, I ordered an additional 2 glass replacements, after the original installation was completed. Here is my long story: To start the process, I obtained estimates from several companies. Each company was very knowledgable about windows and aspects for me to consider. Each company offered a way to meet my desire: … everything from low pricing, … to a combination of cleaning and replacing, … to setting up a schedule of replacements and payments over time. Next, I chose Glass Guru, because their approach best fit my goals. Here are the highlights of the installation experience: The estimator was fast and professional; he measured each window carefully. He assured me that broken glass would be cleaned up. He offered useful considerations. He didn’t bother telling me how good or bad other companies in the area are. He focused on what Glass guru could offer me and the way they do business. Starting the process of getting glass and technicians scheduled, only required a deposit, so glass could be ordered. Then they worked around my schedule, and made sure I knew how long they would need to complete all the tasks. The installers were nice men, who knew their craft well. I felt very comfortable around them. They took time to prep the window areas properly before installing new glass - and replaced trim as agreed in advance. They cleaned up after themselves, and I didn’t have a gooey mess from the old windows. They were nice about letting me watch what they were doing, and even answered my odd questions. At the end of the first installation, I ended up with two warranty repairs. One to replace a window that cracked during installation; and one to replace glass, that had an issue from the manufacturer. Both these replacements were done within the timeframe I expected and with absolutely no hassle. - Because I was still under my budget limit, and because I was happy enough with the first installation, I ordered an additional set of glass-window replacements. And that installation went smoothly too."

Screen Repair questions, answered by experts

Many kinds of window screens, such as solar screens, are designed to reduce the amount of harmful ultraviolet rays that pass through them and enter your home. The materials typically have UV-blocking properties. However, they may not completely eliminate all UV rays from passing through your home. Different window screens are designed for different purposes, and not all are designed to block or reduce UV rays. Do your research to make sure you’re getting the type of window screen to suit your needs.

Yes, a variety of screen materials cut out glare from the sun. Solar screen material can block up to 90% of the glare and heat from the sun, saving on cooling costs. It also offers privacy yet unlimited outward visibility. The cost depends on the size of the screen roll, but solar screens cost between $25 and $90 per roll.

The screen on many screen doors is held in place by screen spline. Screen spline is typically a thin vinyl tubing that fits into the groove of the door’s frame and holds the screen in place. To install the spline on a screen door, you’ll need a spline roller—a tool that presses the spline and screen into the door’s narrow groove. Note that old spline can crack and break, so replacing your screens is a good time to replace the spline, too.

The cost ultimately depends on size, but roughly, the most popular screen materials will set you back anywhere from around $0.25 to over $25 per square foot. Fiberglass and aluminum are usually less expensive at around $0.25 to $0.70 per square foot. Solar screens cost about $7.50 to $15 per square foot, while security screens range from around $10 to $25 per square foot.

Yes, you can absolutely put a screen on a casement window, and most casement windows come with screens. Unlike with a double-hung, single-hung, or sliding window, the screen in a casement window sits on the inside of the window so that the sash can freely open outward. Screens are especially important for casement windows because the large window opening the window provides leaves your home more open to bugs and outside debris than most other types of operable windows.
