"Job was done good, but the only problem was was the cleanup afterwards I found a bunch of stuff in my driveway. And he forgot to put the handle on the outside of the garage door. If I hadn’t gotten my fingers caught in it I don’t think he would’ve put it on."

"Worked with Alan at Northwest Fence and Iron.  We were fixing our upper outside balcony and needed to remove the wrought iron fencing. It was in desperate need of repainting or replacing.  Alan worked with us on choosing the best route of either repainting or replacing.  Since we needed to have it removed anyway, it was cheaper to have a new one installed.
They were very professional and worked with us on the timing for installation since we were working with several contractors.
We would definitely recommend them and would work with them again.

"Jason and team are amazing. I have hired them to do multiple projects including, custom outdoor winding stairs case from the ground floor to the 2nd floor deck, a wood and wrought iron fence with custom doors for around the property as well as a few other smaller projects for the house. Honest, timely, efficient..which is almost unheard of when working with any time of contractor these days. Already lining up the next project for Jason and team. You can go wrong in working with DezIron !"

Driveway Gates questions, answered by experts

The cost to install a gate varies widely, with a typical range between $1,500 and $7,000. The average cost is around $3,500. However, the final price can be as low as $200 for a simple gate or as high as $12,000 for a large, automated security gate.

Key factors that determine the installation cost include:

  • Gate Material: This is a primary cost factor. Chain-link and vinyl are the most affordable, while wood and PVC are mid-range options. Wrought iron, aluminum, and other metals are the most expensive materials.

  • Automation: Automated gates are significantly more expensive than manual ones because they require motors, sensors, controls, and electrical installation.

  • Size and Type: The dimensions and style of the gate (e.g., swinging vs. sliding) will impact the price.

  • Security Level: Gates with advanced security features will increase the overall cost.

Yes, most services include safety checks and anchoring to ensure stability. Confirm with your provider.

Hiring a reliable gate company starts by finding an installer with at least five years of experience in your area. This method will ensure they understand local laws and regulations and are familiar with the permitting process. You can also ask the following questions to ensure a smooth installation:

  • Have you worked with my gate material in the past?

  • Do you have customer references I can call?

  • Are you fully insured?

  • Will you pull the necessary permits for the installation?

  • Do you provide any kind of warranty for the gate’s functionality?

When building an outdoor or deck gate, it's crucial to use durable wood that can withstand harsh weather conditions like sunlight, rain, wind, and snow. Redwood and cedar are excellent choices as they naturally resist decay. While redwood is considered more elegant, cedar is a more affordable option. Other suitable woods include oak and pressure-treated pine, which is specifically treated to resist rot. Although some softwoods like pine are popular, untreated softwoods such as pine and spruce should generally be avoided for outdoor projects because they are susceptible to damage from water, rot, and the sun. Ultimately, it's wise to consider your local climate when selecting the right wood for your gate.

Costs depend on system type, labor rates, and additional features like smart integration or professional monitoring.
