Small jobs welcome

"Due to their backlog, it took longer than I would have wanted, but when the appointment commitment was made, it was met exactly. The assessment of the problem was quick and there was no "padding" of the bill. The cost was very fair, and so far, the repair appears to be working well. THANK YOU Airline Vacuum..."

I am a general Handyman with a current EPA Universal Certification, which means that I am licensed to handle any and all refrigerants that are currently available. I am also a Journeyman Mason, handling all aspects of masonry. I am also very familiar with installing/running new wires for cable tv, as well as internet jacks, excluding fiber optic cable. Electricity and plumbing are another set of skills that I have, but I am not licensed in Texas to do anything requiring a permit in those fields. English and Spanish are my languages, with a preference for English.

"Service was very good. All three crew members were very polite and friendly. They was on time. They did a great job moving everything out of the apartment in to the truck. They also did a good job packing all my belongings into storage. Everything is so neat. I will definitely use them again, when I'm ready to move in my new apartment!"

"After we purchased our home, we had some work done by an AV person who was referred to us by the previous owners. That company made several mistakes and caused a lot of things to now work properly. Our camera system, monitoring alarm systems, and our televisions sometimes did not work. I was referred to Brian Ashworth by the HAI area rep out of Austin. He is excellent when it comes to home automation and internet. What I like about him is that he is honest. He was able to tell me things about my HAI system that I didn’t know about. Instead of trying to up-sale me on another product, he educated me on the system. He fixed everything so that all of our systems were working properly again. He is really good on home automation. He is also going to add some more home automation to our existing system as well."

Central Vacuum Systems questions, answered by experts

They’ll use more electricity than the average upright vacuum, but not remarkably more. Most power units plug into a standard 120-volt outlet and don’t have significant power demands. You shouldn’t notice an increase in electricity bills. If you have any specific questions about energy costs, ask your installer as you examine purchase decisions. Larger power units will need more electricity for their suction levels.

While caulking is handy for quite a bit of jobs, it’s still limited. Any crack or gap larger than 1/4 inch is best left for a more intensive repair job. When you hire house painters, they should run a thorough check to see what they need to repair before they start the job.

Large repairs that caulking typically won’t do well with include cracks or holes larger than a 1/4 inch, rotted wood, or metal surfaces, such as garage doors.

No. Only the hose or the attachments are portable in a central vacuum system. A portable vacuum is a standalone model like a stick, canister, or upright. A central vacuum system is defined by a central power unit, which is installed in one place like an AC unit, and the connected network of piping to funnel the suction.

Yes, installing a central vacuum system typically adds value to your home. The ease of use, longevity, and superior suction power of a central vacuum system can add up to $2,000 to your home’s value if you decide to sell. Potential buyers may consider the central vacuum a perk to purchasing your home.

Before deciding whether or not to install a central vacuum system, consider the pros and cons to determine if it’s right for you.

Pros

  • Increased suction power

  • Improved air quality

  • Reduced noise pollution

  • Longer lifespan than traditional self-contained vacuum units

Cons

  • Higher upfront installation costs

  • Expensive repairs

  • Requires significant storage space
