"Mike really worked with us to get what we needed at the price we could afford. After the first estimate came back over our budget (but still reasonable for what we were asking), Mike allowed us to change our request and adjusted the estimate and work accordingly. Instead of new siding all around, we had them put new siding on one side and caulk and paint three sides of our 1350+SF house that's up on stilts. He made excellent recommendations of materials with good explanations—for example, low E Simonton vinyl windows instead of aluminum. The workers are skilled, polite, and friendly, even when things were tough. This old house didn't want to let its single-pane windows go! And they had to find extra-long ladders to finish the trim around the windows and paint on one side. When impending storms caused a temporary shutdown of the project, they made sure everything would be dry and secure. Communication was good throughout the project—when there was a misunderstanding about what work was to be done, it was quickly cleared up. The pictures below are before, during, and after the project. We're really happy with JP Construction and would use them again."

"William was great to work with. He did an awesome job on our double front doors, he inspected the new ones when they came in and rejected them as there was a quality issue, so we returned them had had new ones built. William went above and beyond on our job with quality workmanship. We would highly recommend William for any door job you need. He has been dealing with doors for the past 22 years and it shows."

"I needed to get a sliding glass shower door installed on my tub to make it safer for visitors for Thanksgiving and when I spoke to Francisco he made it happen one day before they arrived. It is beautiful and exactly what I had been wanting to have installed. He was prompt to respond to text messages and phone calls and I would highly recommend Modern Showers and Francisco. He saved my Thanksgiving with my family and it is perfect!"

"THE WHOLE JOB WAS AMAZING!! THANKS!! We had been wanting to get new windows for years, but the prices were ridiculous. Then Rick called, we agreed to let him come out and give us a price. We were skeptical when he quoted us a price, we had to ask twice about it being the full cost. We have a log home so the main thing was that we could keep our inside and outside trim, all the other companies said it would have to be replaced with their product. And again, the price was so much less than any of the others we had priced. Then came the installation, the crew he sent out was amazing, they went above and beyond to make sure everything was the way we wanted it. With a log home things are a little different and they made sure that everything was just right. Everything cleaned up when the left. The real test came this winter, with our old windows wind came in all around them. No problem this winter no wind, nice and cozy."

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

Solar screens use a thick mesh of polyester to block out the UV waves and solar heat. While they are more expensive at about $7.50 per square foot, they can protect your porch or hardwood floors from sun damage and keep the room or porch on the other side of the patio cool.

The most affordable way to screen in a porch is to add a base track system to an existing wooden frame. The whole process should cost around $2,000 for supplies, depending on the size of your porch. It’s much pricier to build a screened-in porch or sunroom from scratch—and you’ll probably need to hire a contractor for a project like that.

Many kinds of window screens, such as solar screens, are designed to reduce the amount of harmful ultraviolet rays that pass through them and enter your home. The materials typically have UV-blocking properties. However, they may not completely eliminate all UV rays from passing through your home. Different window screens are designed for different purposes, and not all are designed to block or reduce UV rays. Do your research to make sure you’re getting the type of window screen to suit your needs.

Most window screens in residential homes are designed to be removed from the inside, especially with double-hung, single-hung, and casement styles. That said, some setups require exterior removal. Older homes or custom installs may have exterior clips or brackets, and sunscreens are almost always mounted on the outside. Before removing your window screen, look at how it is held in place.

The average cost to screen-in your patio ranges from $2,000 to $4,000. How much you spend depends on the size of your patio, the materials used, and construction complexity. Some patio screen room kits are easy to DIY, but you may need to hire a local screened-in porch builder and obtain permits for more complex designs.
