"The fence they installed was great. They matched the two other fences this one was joining. The painting was a struggle due to communication. They did have some areas that needed to be corrected and when I let them know I was ready for that they came in and corrected them.

"GREAT SERVICE AND BEST REMODLING GUYS Id been looking for someone to remodel my old, kind of nasty tub/shower into a nice new walk-in shower for a few months. Everyone was booked, took weeks to respond to me, and/or asking way above my budget even before we considered costs for the tile and other materials. Victor and his team really came through for us! We got an estimate within 24 hours of contacting Ybarra Professional Builders the project was completed within two weeks. We are so, so happy with the quality of service and how quickly it all came together. They even came out on a weekend to finish the installation so we would not have to go until Monday without our shower. I am hoping this is the last of my remodeling needs for a while, but I will absolutely be giving a call for all of my future projects!"

"Maxey Contracting did an excellent job for us. Blake & Jason were awesome. They are honest, dependable, professional and hard-working. They tore out an old 10x10 deck and installed a beautiful 16x16 composite deck. We were so happy and satisfied with our new deck, that we hired them to install a 40 foot block retaining wall and do a landscaping project. Overall, they did an exceptional job for us and we would highly recommend them for your next project. We'll definitely call them back, when we need their help. What more could someone ask for from a contractor!"

Retaining Wall Installers questions, answered by experts

Depending on who you hire to build a retaining wall, the average cost, including demolition and reconstruction, for a 50-foot wall that's 4 feet in height is between $7,000 and $24,000.

Yes, including patterns, finishes, and plant integration for aesthetic enhancement.

Sand and gravel are two suitable options for filling behind a retaining wall. If you’re building your own retaining wall, you’ll complete this part of the process—known as backfilling—after you finish laying the blocks. Make sure not to skip it—otherwise, you could wind up with drainage issues, which can cause your retaining wall to collapse.

Failure to compact the soil during construction is the most common cause of leaning retaining walls. In addition, poor drainage can lead to excessive water pressure behind a retaining wall, pushing against it until it begins to move forward away from the soil it is holding back.

Small retaining walls still require a foundation of some kind, typically a concrete footing. This helps to ensure the wall is structurally sound and prevents the ground from shifting over time, especially during those winter freeze/thaw cycles. The footing helps spread the weight of the wall and the load it carries over a larger area of the ground, thus assisting with stability. This is true of small retaining walls, larger rock garden walls, and the like.
