"Asked for a quote ahead of time. 149 special for the 10/1 then 20 bucks per vent and 30 per return additional for a total of 549. you would think since they were already going to be there the additional units would be more of a "prorated price" instead of a rip you off price. I didn't use them."

"One of the first things the tech stated when he came through the door is that they replace roofs too. Somehow that felt a bit unnerving. That is not what I purchased and I didn't want a hard pitch to do a service other that what I expected. Anyway the guy went into the attic was there for quite a time and then came back with pictures. When he came into the kitchen he circled my island which again made me a bit uncomfortable. I had some other bills and items on the counter and I felt he was trying to read the documents. Anyway, he said I needed a fairly expensive part and that it would be a a couple of days before he could install. On his return I didn't see a box or any part in his hand. Maybe he had in his bag he used? Anyway he was again in the attic for what seemed a long time. He collected his payment and left. I never saw the defective part. The heater works but I am again wondering if he truly did install a part or any parts. Based on this gut feeling I am uncomfortable having this service technician or his company in my home again."

"Amazing experience. Never had to have this service done so I was clueless- the entire process was explained step by step and in easy to understand format. Price was outstanding- I got 4 separate quotes, they were by far the best choice. Showed up on time and completely prepared and did an extremely efficient and thorough job. Also gave me tons of useful information for upkeep in between visits and the best and cheapest ways to keep my house allergen free. I will have them out every 3 mos for maintenance and filter change. Extremely happy with this company and their service."

"From my tentative inquiry about cost of my project here on Homeadvisor, to the estimate and install/repair, the entire process was smooth and quick. Jake gave me a fair estimate and the office followed up. A couple of days later the technicians came over and completed my project in an efficient and courteous manner. I'd recommend this company to my friends and family."

Eifs Installers questions, answered by experts

Yes, egress windows can significantly add value to a home. By making basement and attic areas safer and more livable, they allow you to market these spaces as finished living areas, which increases your property's value. Many homeowners can recover the full installation cost, with some sources citing a return on investment of around 70%. The exact value added depends on your specific home, location, and adherence to local building codes. Beyond financial value, egress windows enhance functionality by adding natural light and comfort. They are also a crucial safety feature, often mandated by building codes to serve as an emergency exit.

The average cost to install an egress window is approximately $3,900, with a typical range between $2,500 and $5,300, though costs can be higher. The final price is influenced by several factors, including the window's size, type, material, and glass quality. Other variables include labor costs, location, excavation needs, and whether permits or a structural engineer consultation are required. The price of the window itself often depends on the number of panes:

  • Single-pane: $100–$400

  • Double-pane: $200–$500

  • Triple-pane: $300–$800

Additional features like window wells or covers will also increase the total project cost. It is advisable to obtain multiple quotes from professionals to get a comprehensive understanding of the expenses for your specific project.

Because egress windows are meant for emergency exiting and entering, they need to be an accessible size. The smallest an egress window is allowed to be is 15 inches in width and height, with an opening of around 4 square feet.

Most professionals can enlarge a window in five to 10 hours, depending on the window location, the exterior wall material, how easy it is to cut through it, and how much buildback you’ll need after the installation is complete. However, more complex projects can take two to three days from start to finish.

Basements are generally required to have windows for your safety. At a minimum, windows should provide an egress in the event of a fire. But basement windows do more than offer a way out; basement windows also offer natural light and ventilation in an area of your home that is otherwise dark and musty.
