"I hired Chau to install outlets, ceiling fans, and smart switches throughout my home. His work was outstanding. He was professional, very knowledgeable, and offered excellent guidance and recommendations. Communication was great, and his pricing was more than reasonable. He is completely fair and never tries to upsell or take advantage of you. I will absolutely call him again for any electrical work. Highly recommended for excellent quality and value."

"A & A GenPro Electrical is the company if you need to install an Emergency Standby Power Generator. It's been a pleasure working with Andrew, Ashton, Tim, Rocky, Eric, and Pham. They just finished our install today, just in time for Harvey, if he comes this way. They handled everything; slab, generator placement, electrical, plumbing a new gas meter, all inspections, and an extensive full-load test. We highly recommend A & A GenPro Electrical if you're looking for a fixed generator. UPDATE 08312017: At times you find out more about a company after the install. I would give A & A GenPro Electrical 10 Stars if I could. Our generator developed a battery drain problem after the first night of continuous use, and despite the conditions associated with Hurricane Harvey, they showed up. Bob, Ashton, and Eric did the troubleshooting and the subsequent fix. Amazing folks who go above and beyond the call. Our Kohler got us through two more days/nights, and our power came back on last night, and it's now in standby mode."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

You can certainly talk with electricians about pricing, but the pro has the first and last word on what they charge. If you feel like a quote is too expensive, you can discuss the quotes that other electricians have made and see if they’ll lower their estimate in return. Or you may be able to talk about specific parts of the estimate and how they can be changed.

No, you should never plug a generator directly into a wall outlet in your house. This practice is extremely dangerous, often illegal, and can cause "back-feeding," where power from the generator flows back into utility lines, creating a life-threatening hazard for utility workers. It can also damage your home's electrical system, including appliances like pumps and HVAC fans. If the main power is restored while the generator is connected, it can destroy the generator and cause an electrical fire. To safely connect a generator, you must use a professionally installed transfer switch or an interlocking kit, which prevents back-feeding by disconnecting your home from the utility grid before the generator provides power.

Wiring an outlet can be done safely by someone with the proper knowledge and tools, but it can also be dangerous if not done correctly. If you're not comfortable working with electrical systems, it's best to hire a licensed electrician to do the job for you. That way, you can rest assured that your outlet will be rewired safely and quickly.

Even if you don’t have children living in your home, The National Fire Prevention Association still recommends installing tamper-resistant outlets when you’re replacing your existing outlets.

Not only is your home likely to change hands at some point, but you may have young children over as guests. Making the switch even if you don’t currently have children living with you at the moment will help protect any future pint-sized visitors to your home.

According to the National Electrical Code® (NEC®), the electrical code for kitchen outlets states that electrical outlets in a kitchen should be installed no more than 48 inches apart. This ensures that a receptacle is no further away than 24 inches from any place on the countertop. Countertops wider than 12 inches need an outlet on the wall above the countertop.
