The magnetron, which is the component that generates the microwave energy used to heat your food, is the most likely piece to cause your appliance to fail. Outside of deep cleaning your oven and keeping your stovetop sparkling, you should not attempt DIY oven repairs, especially if you have a gas oven.  Even the most straightforward repair can be dangerous if not done correctly, and that’s not a risk worth taking. It’s always best to hire an oven repair specialist to assess the repair needed for your oven and appropriately (and safely) take care of it for you. 

Ovens are measured by the width, height, and depth of the overall oven (typically in inches). You’ll want to measure the oven not only for the final space it’ll be installed in but also to make sure all the openings in your home to get to your kitchen can accommodate its size.

Installing a microwave can take a pro anywhere between one and three hours. Countertop units are the quickest and easiest for most DIYers, while built-in, drawer, and vented over-the-range microwaves take longer. You may be looking at a three-hour install if you need electrical or custom cabinetry work.

While not always necessary, a venting system does help keep your microwave from overheating. It also prevents potential smells from wafting or lingering in your kitchen, which for some homeowners, makes installing a vent over the top of your microwave worth it.
