The sales part of the experience was very good. I was able to choose from several clothes dryers and many dishwashers. The upright freezer was the only one they had but was a good fit for us. The salesman was very helpful with comparisons for the dishwashers, even looking up the noise levels of each of them for me. The prices were good -- each of them was brand new but had small defects. I did not haggle on the prices but the salesman gave me a discount from the ticket prices for buying three appliances at once.
All three appliances were delivered together just a few days later. The price for the installation and takeaway of the old appliances was reasonable, especially considering we live a ways out of town. There isn't any "installation" for an upright freezer and very little for a clothes dryer. One man was able to deliver them all and maneuver them into place.
The problem came with the installation of the dishwasher. On the day of the delivery, the installer said that our pipe to the dishwasher was copper and would need to be fitted with a new, flexible extension. The installer had to return a week or so later to finish this. Additionally, he said the electrical outlet that had serviced the previous two dishwashers was not accessible. Before his second trip, we paid an electrician to install an outlet directly behind the dishwasher to avoid any issues. The Scratch and Dent installer returned and installed the new pipe and the new dishwasher. There was no charge for this second trip, which was great.
However, after we began to use the dishwasher, we found that it didn't clean well. We were disappointed that a top-of-the-line model like this wasn't doing a better job. We also had trouble getting the door to close properly. The entire dishwasher would be shoved back into the cabinet when we pushed the door to close it.
Today, we had plumber here for something else and asked him about the dishwasher. He said the initial installation was not done well at all, and he helped us fix it. There were several key issues left undone. He suggested that the botched installation might be a reason for the poor action of the appliance. We will see.

. I also looked at the sears outlet for scratch and dent appliances and found them to have slightly more selection, and slightly lower prices, but the products were significantly damaged. I could barely tell there were defects with most of the products in the store. The refrigerator I ended up buying has a small (about 1/8in by 1in) line in the door, and I saved around 25% off of the lowest price I found anywhere else for the same appliance. If you are willing to have a very minor cosmetic defect to save some money this is a great store. I was also told that the other location may have more selection.
