As always, the team at All Star A/C & Heating Services here in Houston came through for us. Air went out in the downstairs unit at my kids home. It turned out to be a capacitor and the fix was only $269! We have been so happy with the honest and fabulous service that we’ve had with these guys for a decade now that we would never even consider calling someone else. We had been ripped off by other companies in the past who replaced entire units that were only a few years old rather than servicing just what was needed. All Star was founded by a couple of guys who got tired of working for dishonest companies that encouraged them to replace unnecessarily, and just wanted to do the right thing in their lives and work. Thanks again for being decent and honest. You’re the best! For anyone needing AC/heating services, I recommend these guys wholeheartedly. On a 10 point scale, they’re a 10+

Cody was on time and did a fantastic job. Unlike other ac companies that tell you to flush the whole thing or replace the whole unit, he was up front and honest about the condition of our AC. He took his time and made recommendations about cleaning and recommended a few basic maintenance things but didn’t try and over-sell or recommend things that didn’t need to be done.

Purchased the coupon for the inspection, tech came on time and did his job, inspected outdoor unit and also the attic. Gave me some tips on maintenance and answered my questions.

They come out for AC maintenance at least once in Spring and in the Fall if needed. I liked the owner when he initially came out. But for the last couple of years, they come out for AC maintenance and I am told everything is fine and then something happens in the Fall. They apparently cleaned the AC duct which was blocked after Harvey after I called them that the unit was making a funny noise when they had already had said everything was fine 3-4 months earlier. More recently, I had a leak in the ceiling and of course the duct was blocked again and they charged $159 for cleaning the duct. This was after I had called the plumbers as I thought that the up stairs bathroom was leaking which was not the case. The AC duct was blocked again which was cause of the leak. So the theme is that, they come out in Spring and say everything is fine and a few months later something goes bad and then they fix the problem which should have surfaced during the maintenance. They they charge 300-400 to fix the problem. Last Spring, I asked them that the unit outside looked dirty and would they mind cleaning it. I was told I could do it myself. So hired somebody else to clean the unit. This time, they said that the unit looked dirty again but offered to clean it for $99 and kind off pressured me do it. So I will not be hiring them again.

Ed was punctual and courteous. He checked our non-working unit - capacitor was out. He cooled off the overheated fan motor, compressor, installed capacitor and it started up. He checked our working unit and the capacitor was working, but starting to decline, compressor kicking in more slowly. We decided to replace it also. Freon checked out fine. $249 per capacitor - average in Houston? Happy to be back up and running.

The inspection was easy to schedule and was conducted professionally. This resulted in a bid and a follow-up visit to do the work. The work crew was on time, courteous, professional and did a good job cleaning up. I'm a very satisfied customer and will certainly use them again.

While not the lowest quote I received, All Star was the most responsive and I felt the most confident with. They go above and beyond to quickly resolve the issue and add some extras to help prevent future problems. I appreciated the follow up visit to ensure that everything was still going well a week or so later. They even registered my unit on my behalf so that I now have a 10 year warranty. Have used them on previous homes and will continue to use them in the future.

Great. Ivan was fantastic. Fixed everything and charged a fair price. Even suggested a couple things that could reduce the repair bill. In an era when everyone tries to 'upsell' you.....these guys actually suggested less work instead of more. Great company. They installed my system....that went great.....did the maintenance and repair work and that went great also

My AC went out and they were here within a few hours of calling, which was a total lifesaver. They arrived at the beginning of the timeframe that they gave me and were done in about an hour. Quick, efficient and the AC is working so needless to say, I was thrilled with the service.

FANTASTIC!! I can't even begin to tell you how grateful we are to have found Ed Newby and his company!! The first time I called Ed was in 2016 after our 3-year old $6000 top-of-the-line A/C unit went out. The company that installed it (scammers who shall remain nameless & will NEVER step foot in our house again!- No matter how many good reviews they supposedly have!) told us the high-pressure refrigerant had caused a leak in the coil (?) and we'd have to pay $1000 for the labour to fix our warranty-covered unit. Wait, what?.. That sounded strange, so I called other Angie's List providers for their opinions/estimates. Thank God, we found Ed Newby! He inspected our unit and found a simple fix-- something had come unscrewed. That's IT!! No leaks! He took care of it --and refused to take ANY money from us. Not a cent! (And the other company had charged us $300 for coolant and wanted to bilk us for another $1000-- to screw something together?? Right...) That was 2016. Now, two years later, when our A/C stops cooling, guess who we call? (-: Yep! Ed sent someone out that afternoon --a SUNDAY! In no time, Ivan discovered the problem--we were just low on coolant. $219 later, and our A/C is back in business, good as new! All Star A/C & Heating is the BEST company! Highly qualified, caring, and HONEST! We are so very grateful to have found Ed and his company!

Initially I called All Star for an A/C job. I noticed that they were trying to upsell a lot of things. They added freon and replaced two fan capacitors which were allegedly working at 20% capacity. The total bill came to $493. The next day when the temperature dipped I noticed that one of the furnaces was not working. So I called them again and at this time I was thinking that maybe one of the capacitors was not functioning properly. When the serviceman came the next day, he diagnosed the problem as a bad circuitboard and possibly needing an additional harness wire kit. The total bill was going to be $948. I only paid $59 service charge and sent them away. I immediately called another company from the Angie's List and today they fixed the entire thing for $510 including the harness wire set, circuitboard and the service charge. The technician's comment was that the solder on one or more points on the circuitboard was most likely broken as the All Star technician was trying to move the cables away from sight to replace the fan capacitor which is directly under the cables. Obviously I have no hard proof of the story but it does make sense that a furnace that was working a week ago stopped working the day after All Star replaced a fan capacitor.

After waiting several days for a service call, the guy that showed up and diagnosed the problem said, "I don't know when I can get back here to install the part. You'll have to call the office." What?! I waited my turn and the repair should have been made. It was a matter of him going to get the part and returning to install it. I think there was more $ to be made somewhere else and I wasn't a priority. Not ok. (Prior to the service guy showing up, 2 phone calls to the office had gone unanswered.)

Entire HVAC system replaced from original, very old, equipment. All interaction was professional & cordial. Work was done quickly, well, & with courtesy toward me. I would recommend this company to anyone.

It went great! I cannot say enough about Ed and his team of professionals that worked tirelessly after the hurricane to get my home back up and running. Not only did Ed direct me on my best plan of action, he helped me understand the process with the insurance company. He even made recommendations to me for mold remediation and looked at my water heater for me. He was extremely responsive and completely professional. He had worked on other people's homes that I knew and I was expecting him to make the same recommendations to me on my house, but he really customizes his clients options for what works best for them. He takes into account many factors, and he does not try to up sell you on a product your home simply does not need. He was so compassionate, and exceptionally so during the aftermath of Harvey. He and his family were living in worse conditions than me and my kids and he did not miss a beat or worry about an exact payment date. He worked with me and so did his office staff...they took every call with urgency and were so patient with me in allowing me pay to pay out as I could until my insurance payment came through. I really cannot say enough again about this company and it's care for the clients and the community. I have used them in the past and will continue to do so for all my heating and a/c needs.

they were punctual with excellent communication, fixed the problem in a timely manner, came to check on quality control and fixed issues we didn't know existed, and only took payment when everyone was pleased with the results.

They arrived on time and were very professional. The owner did a once over after the installation was complete. He's a real stickler for quality. He had his guys come back out and change the pitch of the evaporator as he said it was a little off. Honestly, I couldn't see it, but he's dedicated to a perfect installation.
