The plumbers (I believe the lead guy was Chad) were supposed to be there between 8-830 a.m., but didn't arrive until about 8:45 and apologized for their lateness. I showed them what I wanted done and they started working right away. About five minutes in, the lead plumber came out and said the supply lines had been welded to the old faucets. He'd need to cut them and replace the lines. I said fine. About 10 minutes later, they came out and said the shut-off valves were not working and they'd have to turn the water off to the house then replace those valves. I was getting a bit skeptical, but this far in, couldn't stop the work. The had everything done in about 90 minutes and the bill was approximately $370. I thought it was was going to be more like $150 until those other issues arose. A friend who does a lot of remodel work says the charges were outlandish... that they were in-line with what he would expect. I also appreciated the fact they asked for towels to make sure no water spilled anywhere and completely cleaned up the work area. Well now that I have found Garrett Martin and his Team Member Daniel, at Martin Electrical Systems, I can scratch at least one vendor off my "Cautionary List" for good. From the very first phone call, Garrett was both a consummate Professional and personable individual that showed the true importance of customer service over mass advertising and fast talk. It all started when I had a couple of outside electrical boxes that had blown out that needed replaced which they not only did but replaced with high grade professional boxes versus the plastic cover type which had blown two times before from weed eaters, dogs, and such. High quality work and the price was extremely reasonable! Now I have boxes I no longer have to worry about anything happening to again. My Service Technician was Daniel, and just a really nice young man, very polite, courteous and knowledgeable - that was also a confusing first for me! It was when Daniel went to turn off the breakers inside our house, that he mentioned, what I have known for years, was an out of date and dangerous, breaker box that was installed in mass in these type of tract homes throughout I believe DFW and the US back in the 80's. The boxes were known for the breakers not to throw and Daniel said that in Electrical parlance and slang, they referred to them as "Welders Boxes" because they would Arc before they would trip. Plus, the individual breakers were hard to find, expensive if you did and would not work anyway. We moved here into our "starter" home as we called it as young couple at the time, but have lived here and raised 3 boys with no signs of ever moving and that it fine with us. And yes I have known for years, as brought to my attention by other Electricians, that this box had to be replaced, but the only problem was of course the price. These panels are extremely expensive and time consuming to replace and have had quotes from many other vendors over the years of $3500 to over $5000!! The $5000 came from a vendor whose commercials and jingles play relentlessly on the TV, but its obvious to me now, this sort of advertising and marketing are just passed on to us. Anyway, Garrett did the whole thing at a very reasonable price that I could afford. Daniel showed up for his 8:00 appointment at 7:57 and left ahead of schedule! We all sleep a little better these days. I do not give out reviews lightly, but I 200% recommend Martin Electrical. I have several more things down the road I want them to do, bathroom fans need replacing and other things and I will just give Garrett a call and proceed without question to his quality/price of work! Thanks Garrett and Daniel again! "},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/tx/argyle/martin-electrical-systems-reviews-7504016.htm"},"position":10}]}
Welding reviews from real Angi homeowners in Double Oak, TX
Needed a gate repaired that was sagging a lot. Victor and Jonathan were super responsive and offered up an alternative idea to what I had in mind -- their idea will work better long term and keep me from having to get the gate redone when it inevitably sags again.
They even went so far...
Excellent. He did have to come back a couple days later because all of a sudden the a/c unit quit cooling. He came within an hour if my call and found the problem (a tiny pin ***** hole in a weld), it was fixed and freon replaced with no cost.

Called Absolute to install two new bathroom faucets. The woman who took my call was very nice and very upfront: she said they were extremely busy and the earliest she could schedule an appointment was in about a week. I was OK with that and booked. The plumbers (I believe the lead guy was...

FAQs for welding projects in Double Oak, TX
Welding is the process of using extreme heat—and, sometimes, pressure—to attach two pieces of metal. In contrast, metal fabrication is a more involved process that can include welding, sheet metal work, bending, and other forms of metal manipulation. Metal fabrication is a large-scale project that may or may not involve welding, while welding is more often a step in larger fabrication projects.
The average cost to hire a welder is about $300, with an average rate ranging from $65 to $125 per hour, depending on their experience and the project type and size. Aside from labor costs, some other charges you’ll need to pay include the cost of the welding material and the cost of the shielding gas that makes welding possible and safe. When you’re interviewing welders for your work, you can ask for an estimate based on your project specifics. In some simple cases, like welding gas lines or common welding projects, local welders may charge a flat hourly rate with add-ons if necessary.
There are a few things you can ask welders before you hire them to get an idea of their experience and ability levels:
Are you licensed and certified?
How long have you been in the welding business?
Do you commonly do the type of welding I need?
Do you offer any kind of warranty for your work?
Do you charge by the hour or by the project?
How long do you expect my welding project to take?
What steps do you take to minimize errors in your work?
You should not do your own welding unless you have the proper training and experience. Most home electrical systems can only handle MIG welding, which creates weaker bonds than TIG welding and won’t work on certain metals or metal thicknesses. Both welding forms usually require the use of shielding gas, which can be dangerous to store at home. Additionally, welding machines create temperatures of over 3,000 degrees, and the sparks can blind you if you don’t have the proper equipment. As such, it’s usually better to hire a professional welder for your welding projects.
Some states require welders to be licensed and certified, while others don’t. However, it’s always a good idea to hire a licensed welder, regardless of requirements in your area, especially if you need welding for structural components of your home or gas lines. Licensed welders have gone through training and testing to prove their skills, so they’re less likely to make a mistake that could be detrimental to your home. Use Angi’s state licensing tool to determine whether your potential hire has a welding license.
