"Terrible! We have 2 homes in 2 different cities under contract by TruGreen. DEFINITELY WILL NOT BE RENEWING CONTRACT!!!! Very disappointed in customer service, continually trying to upcharge us, unable to speak to a customer service representative, charged us twice in a month more than once, charged us for services not in our contract, unable to communicate with the service department directly/you basically have to call main number and play like you are wanting new services for your home. It’s a JOKE! It’s taking me 3 phone calls to cancel my contract!!! Ridiculous! Read BBB, Yelp and other places for reviews. Their website reviews are FAKE!"

"After contacting numerous irrigation people who either stated I was out of their area or never even receiving a call back, I contacted Milliken's. After so much hassle and bad experience this was like night and day. My repair person, Jason, came out and inspected my leaking system and my worst case scenario was realized. My supply line was leaking under my driveway. Due to this he was unable to give me an exact quote but instead informed me that he would have to run a new line under the driveway and that the price would be by the hour with a minimum of one hours' labor. Having had prior estimates on a plumbing line that also ran under my drive I was prepared for a worst case scenario but then on top of it due to the rain, they would have to come back to complete the repair when I wasn't home. Imagine my surprise when he called to inform me that he was able to get it done at the minimum and that I only owed 191.00. Then when I came home my expectation was to find my yard destroyed. Not the case, most of the turf was put back with little to no damage and required no sod. The integrity of this company and quality of work is amazing. Not only is this my sprinkler company for life, I only wish I could write more reviews and give them more stars to recognize their integrity and quality of work."

The sprinkler system cost is determined by the size of the lawn and not the size of the house. Many large houses sit on top of very small lots with very little landscaping. Now a sprinkler system should be designed based on your current water needs for the type of lawn and plants that you need to water. The price variation that you may be experiencing is usually due to cutting corners or simply putting up sprinkler heads and having rotors water large areas over sidewalks. Many cut corners by watering turf (grass) and landscape beds. This is not usually recommended as different plants have different water requirements. Many of this practices are outright illegal and any responsible homeowner should not consider this type of installation. 1. Size of the Area Needing Water - More Landscaping will require more stations. The more sprinkler stations needed, the more valves required, the larger the controller need for the installation. Of course, square footage will determine the amount of pipe needed and the amount of digging involved. 2. Water Pressure - Low water pressure results in the need for more sprinkler stations. 3. Location and Accessibility of the Water Meter - Not a big factor for most homes. However, occasionally you run into a situation where the water meter is surrounded by lots and lots of concrete floor. There are only two options to reach the water meter. The first option is to dig. The second option is to demolish the concreted area. Again, this is very rare in a residential sprinkler installation. When investing in a sprinkler system, it is usually best to find a irrigator that follows local laws and best installation practice for the industry. The prices may not be the cheapest but you will usually experience less headaches in the life of the sprinkler system.

Lawn Fertilization and Treatment questions, answered by experts

Some things you can do to prepare for yard work services are aerate the soil, fertilize your grass, keep weeds under control, regularly mow your lawn, and water your grass.

Fast-track your seeds to success by pre-soaking them for 24 hours in a shallow container filled with tap water. The water will penetrate the husk and moisten the embryos inside. After one day of soaking, sow the seeds in the soil. Never soak the seeds for more than one day (unless the specific variety calls for longer), as prolonged soaking could cause them to rot.

While you may see some germination by simply tossing a handful of new seeds on a lawn, you'll have more success by following the proper reseeding or overseeding process step-by-step. Without properly tilling, mowing, amending the soil, and watering your lawn, the new seed could blow away or simply fail to take root.

Yes, it can be cheaper to fertilize your own lawn. DIY lawn fertilization saves the cost of hiring a lawn care company or a company that specializes in lawn fertilization. It’s important to handle fertilizer carefully to avoid the potential dangers of getting fertilizing chemicals on your skin. Also, using the wrong type of fertilizer or misapplying it can permanently damage your lawn. On average, the cost to fertilize your lawn using a professional lawn care service is about $250 and may be worth checking into as professionals tend to have the equipment and knowledge to apply the most effective blend of fertilizer to your lawn for the best results.

Starting a mowing business can be profitable if you manage your business wisely, calculate costs accurately, and invest in time-efficient, high-quality equipment. With good customer service, you can lock in loyal customers who invest in weekly lawn care services that turn your business into a successful one.

Lawn care businesses can earn anywhere from $40,000 to over $100,000 per year depending on how you operate, but you’ll need to factor in the cost of equipment to determine your actual profit margins.
