Cutters Landscaping is a full service landscaping company specializing in residential landscaping and commercial landscaping projects. Since our founding, we’ve worked with numerous clients throughout the Austin area. Finding a professional landscape company that can understand your needs, and creativity is hard. We are committed to understanding every client’s unique goals and adjusting to the specific needs of each project to achieve high quality installations every time. Great service begins with experienced and friendly professionals, which is why we put so much consideration into selecting the best to join our team. We complete projects efficiently and are constantly striving to form lasting relationships with our clients.

"Way overpriced for average work. Always trying add cost on the project by forgetting items on the original quote. Main concern was grading and leveling of a very straight forward front yard project. Yard is more unlevel now that it was before they started. Be cautious of giving the final check to them if you need to make any adjustments, you’ll never heard from them again. Unfortunately, I will probably have to hire another company to come fix the mistakes they won’t come back for. I would not recommend this company to anyone that wants good quality work done."

Mulch and Topsoil questions, answered by experts

Mulching any time of year can attract termites, so there’s no added risk in the fall. The important thing to remember is that termites are attracted to rotting wood, so you need to lay a thin enough layer that won’t trap too much moisture and lead to rotting. A layer between 1 and 4 inches thick should provide all the benefits you’re looking for without attracting termites.

Pea gravel comes in a variety of colors, including cream, white, black, gray, and brown being some of the most popular choices for homeowners. You can also find red, yellow, green, and even multicolor options for your landscaping needs. The price of pea gravel is about $350 for the typical home improvement project.

The depth of your decomposed granite depends on its intended use, but around 3 to 4 inches is the most common depth. Driveways that need to support a lot of weight should be at a depth of no less than 6 inches. Walkways that won’t see a lot of weight but lots of foot traffic should be built at a depth of 3 to 4 inches, and patios should also be between 3 and 4 inches deep.

If you have a steep driveway, angular gravel, which is 3/4 to 2 inches in length, is a great choice. The stones won’t slide, allow for proper drainage, and stay in place even on the steepest slope.

Rocks are less likely to attract snakes and other critters because their prey (termites, ticks, and other insects) don’t usually inhabit this environment. However, if you have placed together rocks with large spaces in between or near a source of water, you may find a snake or an occasional chipmunk seeking shelter.
