"Jonathan came out to camera the main sewer line to check for roots and deterioration. The 83 year old line was still in good shape and he recommended that nothing needed to be done. I also had him review the proposed drain and vent arrangement for the new half bath that will be tied into the existing main sewer. Made good suggestions on venting. Appreciated the honest work an dedication to customer service."

"Julián was awesome. Great explanation of the issue. He advised I clean 2 other drains because of this issue. And thankfully I did - I was facing major problems that he fixed at a much reduced cost while already here. Excellent service, very nice man, fast and friendly and knowledge and fairly priced. For drain issue look no further."

"Very difficult clog but service tech kept at it. Checked another drain that belonged to a laundry tub to see if that was connected to the problem. It wasn't but he finally got to the clog after using 30 feet of snake and all is well. He cleaned all the area where water and debris had been left and made sure everything was neat and tidy and there were no leaks where hoses and pipes had been disconnected. Very happy with service."

Sewer Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Water leaking through your basement floor is a good sign of a clogged drain, but another sign of a clogged basement floor drain can include unpleasant odors coming from the drain. Also, hearing gurgling noises when water drains from the basement or having other plumbing fixtures (like toilets or other drains) backing up is a good indicator.

Roto-Rooter does not charge by the hour, so the quote you get after your in-person consultation should cover the whole project. This includes the time it takes a technician to get to your house and the time it takes to complete the job. For context, a plumber will charge anywhere from $45 to $200 per hour, but you may also pay a service fee or flat fee.

Simple blockages can be cleared using household plungers or manual snakes, provided no severe plumbing issues exist.

It can take anywhere from half an hour to a few hours to fix a main line clog, depending on the cause and severity of it. The job should not take more than a day to complete. Keep in mind that the main line is not the same as your home’s sewer lines (which connect to the main line and run to your house). Your city is responsible for any clogs or damage to the main line itself.

You could be smelling sewer gas in your kitchen because of a dry P-trap, clogged vent pipe, or leaking plumbing seals. If you smell a rotten egg odor, check your sink’s P-trap and plumbing connections first. A clogged or damaged vent pipe can trap sewer gas and push it back into your kitchen through the plumbing pipes. Loose or deteriorated seals around drainpipes can also allow sewer gas to leak out. If you can’t find the source, call a local plumber for expert help.
