The demolition went well and his subs that did that were prompt, curteous, and respectful. AML Leon was quick and efficient, and cleaned up as they went along. They began August 11th and had it not been for a water leak that I found below the slab, they would have been done in about 6 weeks. The re-pipe of the water lines added 10-14 days. The tile, cabinets and counter top subs did very good work and cleaned up as they went along. One of the subs that repaired and painted the ceilings and wallboard was an artist, and his work is the best I've ever seen. You cannot tell that there were ever any holes in ceilings or walls. All the subs that Eric used were diligent, and communicated well, and arrived and left when they said they would. Eric was on top of everything, communicated with me and the designer, and was a very open and easy going contractor, with good business practices, and skills. I've remodeled other houses, and built a new house on a lot in Colorado, worked with architects, and interior designers, and I would put Eric Stephens in the top two or three contractors I've ever dealt with. I would recommend him for the most complex or routine job, no matter where, and he was a pleasure to do business with. And his prices for add-ons was fair, and he did small things without nickel and dime cost adds. I completely recommend Eric Stephens and ECS for any construction job in the San Diego area.

Now, less than a year later, 12 out of 31 drawers don't work - they slam and/or don't self-close. When we looked into that, we realized that instead of installing high-end BluMotion by Blum soft and self closing drawer slides as per our contract, Klaus installed some cr**ppy slides made by Ferari. We forgave him for a lot of other things (notice that I only wrote this review now. We let all the other issues, even major, go until this drawer fraud was revealed), but substituting $27 parts with some $4 cr*p is is low. And all for what? A few hundred dollars of cost savings Klaus got out of it? 2) The kitchen island was supposed to be espresso STAINED wood. We carefully chose the color from the variety of stained samples Klaus has provided us with. Using the sample, we chose and purchased the hardwood floors and the granite counter. Then Klaus brought in and installed PAINTED cabinets instead, and the brown paint he got is not even close to the espresso stain color we have chosen. We felt like idiots for that we spent so much time trying to find the perfect countertop to match the cabinets, when the cabinets turned out to be nothing like what we ordered. Plus, the paint job was bad: he tried to fix it (using the roller) but only made things worse. Klaus ended up disappearing on us, abandoning the project. Since he left, the paint continues to chip. I still don't understand what he was thinking. Did he seriously expect us not to notice that cabinets are painted when they were supposed to be stained?? 3) When wiring for under-cabinet lights, he connected two wires (not even with a wire nut) and left them hanging in the wall. He was about to patch the opening in the drywall when we caught him. This is incredibly dangerous - leaving wires in the wall without a junction box. Not to mention that you have to have access to all the points of connection, so you can't just close up the wall and hang a cabinet over it. Klaus is a chief of volunteer fire department in Magnolia. I could not believe he was going to leave the wires in the wall just like that!! 4) The dishwaser was improperly connected: the dirty water with pieces of food flows back to the dishwasher from the garbage disposal (because the hose does not loop up above the drain level like it should), and the dishwasher stinks as a results. Klaus cut the hose short to go straight to the disposal, so we cannot even fix this problem without taking the dishwasher out completely and replacing the hose. 5) The fabrication of the cabinets was supposed to take 4 weeks, the installation was supposed to take 3 days. Instead, it took 4 months start to finish. Admittedly, Klaus has plausible reasons for the delay: death in the family first, then Klaus himself got very sick, then there was some equipment malfunction at the shop. We were understanding and to speed things up we hired an electrician (we didn't trust him anyway after the wire in the wall situation) and a plumber to do the work Klaus was supposed to do as per our contract. Klaus managed the best he could - he was installing kitchen in parts over the period of two months, so the were able to partially use it. We were pretty upset with the painted cabinets instead of stained, but we went along with it, letting him to fix the chipping and running paint, instead of making him make us new cabinets and stain them. We were not happy that the whole thing took months instead of weeks, but we accepted it and tried to stay optimistic. But when the drawers started falling apart and we found out that he substituted Blum drawer slides we paid for with this cr*p, we could not get over it. This is pure fraud and there is no excuse for it."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/tx/houston/k-g-homepro-master-carpenters-and-cabinet-makers-reviews-2692105.htm"},"position":9},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"Austin Doors and Trim","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"TX","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Hollis H."},"reviewBody":"I am a licensed interior designer in Houston, TX with a carpentry problem in a new construction in Austin.
I sent Marcus two photos of the kitchen cabinetry and explained that there was no clearance to install pulls on the drawers at the inside corner of a kitchen. There were pulls already installed on the other drawers, so we could not do a routed edge to solve the problem. Perpendicular to the range was a run of drawers which was installed too close to the inside corner at 12". The drawers did not extend completely because they ran into the commercial style range and handle. The solution was to leave the range-side drawers as made, and on the wall perpendicular to the range, make a filler panel on the left, then put a full height door over the remaining opening and create pull out shelves behind them. My client also had a door with hinges in the study posing as an appliance garage to hide the recharging of small electronic devices. Marcus installed a hydraulic arm on the cabinet door; to make it stay in place as raised, as well as moved file cabinet rails to allow clearance for file tabs on drawers in the study that were too shallow for standard file racks. He also arranged for a plumber to disconnect and reconnect the gas range in order to do his cabinet work."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/tx/austin/austin-doors-and-trim-reviews-2054997.htm"},"position":10}]}

Great. Fireman called when he was en route, assembled the cabinet in about 1.5 hrs and gave me several suggestions to keep it working great for a long time.

We decided to remodel the kitchen and master bath of our mid-1980s 3 bd-room PUD in Carlsbad. We had a decorator/designer, and we interviewed 4 contractors, two of which were on Angie's list. ECS Const. Inc. was one of the bidders, and Eric Stephens came out to review, get specs and...

FAQs for cabinet making projects in Bayou Vista, TX
Custom cabinets are worth the investment to transform the look of your kitchen with a design, color scheme, and aesthetic that’s unique to your home. If you’re looking for cabinets that reflect your personality but are more cost-effective, semi-custom cabinets are a great alternative that allows you to showcase your style, but with pre-made cabinets instead of fully custom. Custom cabinets also provide a 70 to 80 percent return on investment, making them a worthwhile purchase.
There are a few key differences between custom and semi-custom cabinets. While custom cabinets offer complete customization, semi-custom cabinets are less personalized, offering fewer paint color, finish, and hardware choices. In addition, custom cabinets typically take longer to install due to the build time, whereas semi-custom cabinets are prefabricated and therefore faster to install.
If you're looking for ways to save money on custom cabinets, there are a few ways to cut costs without sacrificing beauty. For starters, comparing door styles to choose the most cost-effective option is a great way to save money on the overall project.
In addition, choosing a common wood species versus an exotic one will lower the price. Woods like oak and hickory are often more affordable wood choices, and the same goes for knobs, pulls, and other finishes where picking a commonly available style can reduce costs.
Custom cabinets cost between $500 and $1,200 per linear foot on average to install. Factors like materials, size, and type of cabinet doors you choose significantly affect the overall cost.
For example, a basic slab cabinet door can cost $60 to $70 for materials alone. As its name suggests, this material is a piece of wood with no unique features. However, a mullioned glass inset panel door, which features a designed glass panel, ranges from $100 to $200 for materials per cabinet door.
Like most special-order items, custom cabinets have several pros and cons to consider when buying new cabinets. Custom cabinets are typically more expensive than prefabricated cabinet options, but the work often reflects the quality. Custom cabinets tend to last 20 or more years, but the time it takes to install them is typically longer than other cabinets—roughly 6 to 8 weeks on average from the time of ordering. However, a major benefit is the ability to personalize every aspect of your cabinetry, from cabinet hardware to custom paint colors.
