"Juan had to completely rip out ceiling to floor in bathroom and closet. He was neat and did an excellent job. He had to take out all bathroom fixtures and cabinets and reinstall.. It isnâ t easy to find a good drywall man. He is going to do more work for me so I will forward another review on completion."

"Here’s a polished review you could post: We had a great experience with East Texas Patch. Juan and Trinity were both very knowledgeable, professional, and courteous throughout the entire process. They took the time to explain everything clearly and made sure the job was done right. Their attention to detail and quality of work really stood out. We truly appreciate their hard work and would highly recommend them to anyone needing their services. Or a shorter version: Juan and Trinity at East Texas Patch were excellent to work with. "Quick work, great customer service, even gave me a couple of referral names for shower pan repair work. Will use again! Update 8/27/2018: Vented a garage air conditioner and repaired a pocket door. Great job! Have already hired him again for some drywall and additional pocket door repairs."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Drywall insulation costs around $1,800, on average, but prices can range from $500 to $4,500, depending on a few different factors. The following things are important considerations to make when pricing out your insulation project:

  • Square footage of insulation

  • Type of insulation

  • Climate in your area and the insulation R-value required

  • Whether or not your walls are already finished

  • Accessibility of the area

  • Whether or not you need old insulation removed first

Whether you need a drywall anchor depends on the specifics of your project, particularly what you're hanging and where. You do not need a drywall anchor if you can screw or nail the object directly into a wooden stud, as the wood provides sufficient support and stability. However, if there are no studs in the location where you plan to hang the item, you should use drywall anchors to ensure it is securely supported. For very lightweight objects, like small pictures, adhesive picture hanging strips can be a suitable alternative to anchors.

Plaster can be a difficult DIY to master, especially if you plan to plaster an entire room, rather than patch a small area. Before you begin a plaster DIY project, you need to know which tools and type of plaster to use. It's also important to know how to prepare the surface and apply the plaster for a smooth finish. If that all sounds like a lot of work, you may prefer hiring a local plaster repair contractor to do the job.

A local drywall contractor can texture your drywall for you. Drywall contractors are a better choice than general handy people because the contractors have a lot of experience working with drywall mud. The process is somewhat of an art thanks to the complexity of working with the mud, so call in a drywall pro who knows what they’re doing.

While it’s most common to sand plaster dry, it is possible to wet-sand plaster, too. Doing so can reduce the amount of plaster dust released into the air and make it easier to work in smaller, more delicate areas (such as around wall trim). However, some people find that wet sanding leads to more imperfections, which is why larger walls are more often dry sanded to ensure an even finish.
