"The owner, Tom, came out and he was just great. I have cathedral ceilings so it was pretty difficult getting up there and finding the source of electricity. He brought all his own materials. He brought a drop cloth which impressed me. He cleaned up after he left and made sure everything was clean to my satisfaction. He was just great! He went above and beyond. This was the best service provider I’ve hired of Angie’s List."

"John Waltz did a great job repairing the damage to my pool surface and replacing my liner. He stayed in touch with me throughout the process. He and I stayed in touch by texting which was very convenient for me!!! I am very pleased that I was fortunate enough to find his company, get quality work done, and get a reasonable price. Thank you John for everything!!!! I highly recommend them!!!"

"Mike, the owner of Hummingbird, and his crew were/are professional, friendly, and courteous through all phases of our project. Mike is honest enough to tell you what works best in order to either help save you money, or help you see any potential issues that may arise based on your vision of the project. His suggestions helped me to see an issue with drainage, and plants that would not do well in the space, or climate conditions. Mike gave us exactly what we wanted; quality work, a beautilful border design at a reasonable and affordable price. What sets Hummingbird Landscaping head and shoulds above all the other landscaping companies, is that the price quoted to you at the start of your project, will be the same price at the end of the project. No hidden fees, or change in cost of supplies, or labor if you decide to move a plant from the front yard to the back yard, or changing your mind on design or placement of stone. No extra labor charges. His crew took care of our property as if it were their own. They cleaned up every day before leaving. If we had not had 3 days of rain, the project would have been completed in 3 days. The best description of my experience with Hummingbird, and Mike...HONEST, REASONABLE, and QUALITY! Peace of mind knowing that I chose the right landscaping company, and person, to spend my hard earned money."

"Shane is very prompt and reliable. He showed up on time. He was quick to find the problem with our pool and had a solution. He was even kind enough to meet us in Granbury at a pool store to help us find a part we needed. His services are affordable. We highly recommend him."

"During 2 calls totaling 3.5 hours of work they cleaned the pool which was FULL of leaves. They also solved 3 other problems and included parts. The problems were 1) Polaris booster pump not working - they replaced a capacitor. 2) the large o-ring seal in the lid of the main pump had gone flat and was causing the pump to draw air - new o-ring. 3) The main pump was leaking between the pump and the motor causing the loss of water - replaced gasket, seal and o-ring. These are all problems that have plagued our pool for months and they quickly found and resolved the problems. In my opinion these folks know what they are doing."

Install Above Ground Pools questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can put too much shock in a pool, and it is crucial to follow the directions on the product you are using. Adding excess shock can upset the chemical balance, make the water cloudy, have adverse effects on swimmers, damage pool equipment or surfaces, and even encourage certain types of algae to grow. If you have over-shocked your pool, perform a water test and adjust the chemicals as necessary. The pool's chemical balance will eventually return to normal as the excess chlorine dissipates over time.

The cost to repair a swimming pool varies widely, with an average cost around $700. The total expense can range from as little as $10 for simple DIY fixes to over $20,000 for extensive overhauls. Key factors influencing the cost include the type of pool (in-ground vs. above-ground), its size, and the specific repairs needed. For above-ground pools, repairs typically cost between $100 and $700. For in-ground pools, costs are higher, generally ranging from $350 to $2,700. Common repairs include patching liners, fixing plumbing or electrical lines, and repairing equipment like pumps and filters. More complex issues, such as fixing a cracked beam, can cost $6,000 or more, while major projects like resurfacing a concrete pool can cost between $10,000 and $20,000.

There are some disadvantages to a salt water pool. Besides costing slightly more than chlorine pools, salt water pools require a lot of salt. It's also harder to find a professional with salt water pool experience to do minor maintenance and repairs. Salt water can also damage some materials, so you’ll need to use specific heating, fixtures, lighting, liners, and masonry when building a salt water pool.

Yes, you can absolutely use a sand filter with a saltwater pool, but you’ll have to make sure you have the right grade of sand to catch smaller particles, just like in a standard pool. To choose the right pool filter, consider the degree of filtration you’ll need. Cartridge or diatomaceous earth filters can remove smaller particles, so they’re better suited for a less chlorinated saltwater pool.

The best temperature to paint a pool deck is between 50 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit, because many paints and sealers require temperatures warm enough for the chemical reaction to take place for proper curing. The paint should not be allowed to freeze, and temperatures above 90 degrees can cause the paint to dry too quickly, also preventing the chemical reaction from following through to completion.
