"The DFW Complete Handyman has completed numerous projects at our home. The work completed is exceptional. One large project completed was replacing and painting the gable ends of our large 1700 square foot home. The special handyman, Charles took down the old siding and replaced it with new siding. The company hauled off the old material and did a great cleanup. We were satisfied with the workmanship. The company didn't ask for any upfront money. This is a dependable company."

Small jobs welcome

"I had to hire someone to come in and fix a horrible sliding glass door installation. Even if I could have successfully reached the original company, I didn't trust them to do the job right. Instead of aligning the door to the wall/frame (door stuck out at top, flush at bottom), they told me the door wasn't slanted, my house was). I selected North Texas Handyman Service to complete the re-installation and Brian did a fantastic job! I wish I'd known about this company when I needed the initial installation completed. He also repaired myskylight. I will definitely contact Brian at NTHS for all future projects!"

"From the moment Scott interacted with us, I knew we had found a landscaper with integrity and great customer service. His amazing team transformed our yard in one day. The work was meticulous and came in exactly on budget. I honestly never knew that landscaping could be so easy! Scott had great ideas from the selection of ground rock/stone to tree choices. He took accountability for our satisfaction from start to finish and I can't recommend Southers Landscaping enough!"

Customers say: True professional

"Lonnie did a fantastic job helping finish my kitchen renovation. The tile work was not easy - arabesque - and it looks so beautiful. All the handyman work was also done with a very high level of expertise. I Could not ask for better results. His professionalism and friendliness really sealed the deal as A1. Thank you Lonnie!"

Handyman Services questions, answered by experts

In most states, handypeople do not need to be licensed to perform simple home repair tasks and smaller jobs. When projects exceed specific cost amounts, however, ranging from $500 in California to $50,000 in other states, some municipalities consider them to be contractors, meaning they need to be licensed. To learn if your handyperson should be licensed to work on your job, contact your local governing body or state contractors’ licensing board before starting any work.

Most contractors do not charge for meetings, but it can depend on the project, mainly if it includes detailed consultations or project planning. For general estimates, homeowners shouldn't expect to be charged. Always ask up front about meeting fees to avoid surprises and ensure you know what’s included in the process.

Reviewing your contract for termination terms is best when ending a relationship with a contractor. If there is nothing in the contract or you had a verbal agreement, communicate your decision in writing, citing specific reasons. Afterward, pay for the completed work per your original agreement. Remember you want a record of all correspondence in case you need a lawyer later to settle disputes.

Aside from a professional light installation company, there are a few other pros who may be able to help you hang Christmas lights. Along with specialty holiday decorators, a handyperson near you can also hang Christmas lights (and can fix that pesky drippy sink while they’re at it). Either way, not all of these pros will offer the service, so be sure to call ahead and get multiple quotes before you hire.

While handypeople do not need to be licensed in many places, you should only hire insured pros for any home improvement work. Your handyperson should have active liability coverage that protects them and you in the case of an error or accident. Furthermore, if they have employees on your property, they should also have workers’ compensation insurance. If you hire an individual or a company that is not insured and they damage your property, have an accident while on the job, or become injured on your property without insurance, you can be held financially liable.
