Also has a great personality and is very patient, amenable to new ideas. Cons: A fair amount of communication problems. I was not always sure when workers were coming or what the plan that day was or even what colors things were going to be painted. Contractor told me that cabinets would be coming down a few tones in color but was not shown swatches ahead of time to represent what contractor had in mind. A mauve primer went on the cabinets which surprised me since light colored cabinets normally take white primer. Did not like where color scheme was going so went back to white. Also based on other estimates I received, I thought price would include all countertops but she said would not be able to this time. Main problem is the price. Nothing was included. The one wall to be painted did not include the door trim. Go figure. I had to pay another $100 for the door trim. Also what should have been a four week job went on for four months. My neighbor has the exact same kitchen as I do. She had her cabinets refaced, new floor, all new granite countertops, and had more remodeling done than I, and the job which came out beautifully was completed in one month. I had her contractor come look at my finished job, and while he thought that the overall work was fine, he about dropped his jaw when I told him the price. He tried to mitigate the fact that he obviously thought that I had gotten ripped off. By the way he has an A on Angie's list and a long list of reviews. Also there were lots of little mistakes that I had to spot. For the money the work should have been perfect. A year later the paint on the refaced doors is already chipping, and the doors seem lightweight. I fear that most of my money went into the contractor's pocket rather than into the materials for the job. Initially, I had wanted to sink my refrigerator into the closet behind it but the return duct would have had to be removed. The contractor told me that that was not a fun way to spend my money. For what I ended up paying this contractor, with another contractor I could have done just that and had what I wanted. I did not remodel my kitchen because it was out of style but because the cabinet doors were warped and no longer closed. My husband and I are professors at El Paso Community College and do not have a lot of expendable income. Ever since we moved in I saved my money to fix the kitchen. This was my first time using a professional contractor based on a cousin's recommendation. I thought that my cousin had used this contractor for her remodel but came to find out too late that she only knew her. In the contractor's defense she is juggling a lot of jobs and is perhaps better at larger remodels. At the time of the remodel my son was quite ill and I was going through my final year of tenure. I had asked her to reschedule the job for summer when he became ill, but she persuaded me to go ahead with the job. How I wish that I had trusted my instincts. Keep in mind that I am a bit of a perfectionist and am a bit obsessive compulsive. On a positive note most people think the kitchen looks fine, and this contractor does work very hard and provides schematics and elevations so you can visualize. Do your research, get start and end dates built into the contract, and make sure that the contractor itemizes by price each part of the remodel. The workers are very professional and clean up and haul away all debris left from the job. Good luck and hope this review helps. At the time of my project this contractor had not been reviewed on Angie's List. Absolutely stay away. They build a rock wall for me and it was a nightmare. I had used them before and they were good that time, but when the built the wall, it was a nightmare. It got to the point that I was glad to get them off my property. The man from Desertaire said he had messed up and he should have charged us twice the amount. That's the amount we were told, so too bad. I went out there and found that the wall wasn't level. I had to fight with him about that. They redid a flower bed for me. I told them I knew that had to cut down my rosemary, but that I didn't want them to take it completely out. But they took it out. So I had to stay after him two or three times to make him replace my plants. I had to go to them a second time about the flower bed because it wasn't level. Just looking at it, you can tell it slants. The thing that was very frustrating was that when you did have a problem, he immediately went to argue it. I almost wonder about the things he told me, if he hadn't lied about some things. It got to the point that I was extremely frustrated with him. We kept some of his fee, because we weren't going to give it to him without him completing the job. By the time he was through, he was glad to be of my property and I was glad to see him gone. I had said something to his workers and he told me I shouldn't have done that. He was like, \"My workers didn't do that.\" But they did. I'm not crazy. This bush was a full bush, now it's a stump. He has no professionalism at all. It was so uneven. We're talking four to six inches, from one end to the other. Every time I talked to him, he argued with me. He shouldn't treat his customers like that. I would tell people steer clear and don't even to near him. He did a wall for me before and it fell apart while they were building the newer wall. What I wanted done would have cost too much money right now, so I just went with the repairs that needed to be taken care of. I hired Engel Coatings to repair my front wall (stucco and paint) that was cracking badly due to a shoty job done by my home builder, refinish my front door, fill in cracks and stain exterior wood and replace wood in side gate and repaint side gate. The end result was much better than expected. I am so used to average to below average work from people here in the Las Cruces area that I have come to expect less than perfect work, but Engel Coatings changed all that. But a year or so later the AC/Heat stopped working and I was informed, only after I discovered the problem myself and inquired, that it wasn?t going to be fixed. It didn?t work for several years but I believe it may now be working again.
In August 2011, I received a renewal notice for the 2012 calendar year for $660 due January 1, 2012 (no change in price over the previous year).
But then in November, I received a second notice stating that the rent for the 2012 calendar year was changed to $1200 (an increase of 82%).
There was no explanation, no reference to the previous notice, no apology ? just a ?you are hereby notified? statement.
Naturally I called but was told by the onsite manager that the owner had made a decision about rents across the board and there could be no further discussion.
Self storage tenants are, to some extent, captive consumers. It?s expensive to move from one storage facility to another, rents must typically overlap a month, and the move can?t occur unsupervised. So with less than 60 days? notice, my only options are to go along with the owner?s decree or incur moving and duplicate storage expenses and take a day off to supervise the move.
My situation? I'm a cancer patient who can't afford to move, can't afford the rent increase, and really don't need this stress.
My opinion? This sort of insensitivity and callous disregard for a company?s customers is inexcusable.
It?s clear that the owners are untrustworthy, undependable, and completely insensitive to their customers and under no circumstances can I recommend that anyone rent a storage unit with this company.
UPDATE: I posted my report before I removed my things from the facility and, in the process, mentioned to the onsite manager I that I was dissatisfied and had posted a negative review on Angie?s List.
Then began an almost surreal series of retaliatory events, verbal abuse, and harassment that ended only after I had completely moved out.
The doors to the storage areas are self-closing and there is no way to hold them open. So rolling a cart full of furniture through a door requires two persons, one to hold the door and one to manage the cart. But since I was alone, I was forced to devise a way to get the cart through the door and hold the door open at the same time. The first time I tried it I rolled the cart over my foot.
Later, I noticed that someone else had used a concrete based rat trap (yes, the facility has rat bait traps everywhere) to prop a door open. That seemed like a good idea, so I did the same and managed to get one SUV load of furniture out that day with no problem. But when I went to drive off there was a note written in big letters under my windshield wiper: ?If I catch you using my bait station as a door stop again, I will charge you $50!! Janice Murphy, Manager.? Since I had already taken care to return the bait station to its original location and had duly noted her comment, I left to return on another day for another load.
That next day was Sunday, but I couldn?t get into the facility ? my password no longer worked. I asked the front desk person what was going on and was told that my entry had been blocked by the facility manager and that I had to return on a weekday to talk with her and have it unblocked.
I returned on a weekday, talked with the manager who told me that she had blocked my access due to my use of a bait station as a door stop and went on to explain that it is dangerous for tenants to pick up bait stations since they could be bitten by rats. I explained that I had read her note and was more than willing to comply, she unblocked my access and I moved out another SUV load of my items.
A couple of nights later I received a telephone call at home from another tenant who told me that his taillight lens had been broken, he thought, by someone else driving within the facility and that the facility manager had looked over security videos, determined that I had done it, and gave him my home telephone number. I told him that was impossible, that I would have known if I had hit another car, that I?m the type of person who contacts people when I see others damage their car and drive off, and that the facility manager seemed to be waging a personal vendetta against me for posting a negative review of her facility. He accepted my explanation and agreed to drop the matter.
The next day was on the weekend, I visited managers office and requested that I be shown the video of my car hitting another car. The weekend manager explained that I would have to return on a weekday to see the video.
The next weekday I returned, drove up to the entrance to my storage unit, realized I had forgotten the key to my storage unit, never even exited my car, and then drove to the manager?s office. At the office I told the manager that I wanted to see that video.
It was at that point that the manager and her mother (yes, her mother works there too) began verbally harassing me.
The manager showed me a real-time surveillance video of the door next to the entrance to my storage unit and berated me for moving a rat bait station next to the door against her instructions. I explained that I hadn?t even gotten out of my car and suggested she rewind the video to see for herself (she didn?t).
Then I requested that she show me the video of my car hitting another car and was told she would have to search and cue it up ? that I would have to schedule an appointment to see it.
When I had taken about all I could take on that subject I asked her to explain to me exactly what she did see on her surveillance tape. I repeatedly asked if the video actually showed my car contacting the other car and she finally acknowledged that it did not but that I had passed by the other car so she was sure it was me.
Then she redirected her harassment to the subject of my storage rental rate. The problem it seemed was that I had enjoyed a reduced rate for my storage unit (due to the AC being out for years) for far too long and that it was only right that my rate be jacked up so high. I kid you not ? the manager and her mother were mad at me because my rate was so low.
I explained that a year or two prior she had told me that the owners had no intention of ever fixing the AC so I had no reason to assume that it was even working again. Further, I had no idea my rate was even less than it should be and it was hardly my responsibility to audit my rate against those at other facilities and voluntarily raise it. I also explained that it wasn?t the rate that concerned me anyway it was that the notice of a rate increase superseded a renewal notice at the previous rate that had been provided over four months in advance with another giving me less than six weeks to respond.
Regardless, the only way I escaped further abuse on that subject was to apologize, which, believe it or not, I did just to get out of there. I apologized for having a rate that was too low, turned around and, on the way out, said ?Goodbye.? She yelled, I suppose trying to bait me, ?What did you say!? I turned around and repeated, ?I only said, goodbye.?
When I posted my original review I thought there was a problem with the ownership of this facility and had no reason to believe that the management was complicit.
My advice, stay away ? the place and the people who work there are toxic. Once Forest Central Storage has got yo"},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/tx/dallas/forest-central-self-storage-reviews-6405975.htm"},"position":10}]}

FAQs for concrete wall construction projects in Anthony, TX
One starting point to find a local home builder is to collect suggestions from friends and neighbors. However, it’s still wise to do some more research before you hire a builder. Read reviews to supplement any word-of-mouth recommendations. Check sources like Angi that have standards and criteria in place to screen the pros it lists can also help you find more reputable local home builders.
Concrete repair costs range anywhere from about $0.10 to $0.15 per linear foot to fill minor cracks, to about $6 to $14 per square foot to replace damaged concrete slabs. Repair costs vary widely depending on the size and type of work needed. For example, replacing 100 square feet of driveway will cost between $600 to $1,400, on average.
Typically, it’s more affordable to buy an existing home than it is to build a new one. New construction loan interest rates tend to be higher than interest rates for traditional mortgages. Additionally, the cost of materials is likely higher when building a new home than it was when an existing home was built (unless it’s a very new one). You’re also paying for all new appliances, finishes, permits, inspections, and connections for water, gas, and electricity.
The average price per square foot to build a house is about $150 per square foot. Overall, the cost to build a house ranges anywhere from $100 to $500 per square foot, depending on where you build. The primary cost factors include location, size, and style of house you build.
Concrete contractors typically charge anywhere from $6 to $14 per square foot. Cost factors include job size, site prep, base material, accessibility, your location, concrete finish, and concrete thickness. Removal of existing concrete, asphalt, deck, pavers, and grass will cost anywhere from $1 to $6 per square foot. Homeowners can often save money by removing and disposing of existing pavers, decks, and grass. Breaking up and hauling away concrete and asphalt is difficult and time-consuming without the proper equipment and may be worth having the pros do that work.
