"After they inspected my chimney they quoted me a price that was a lot more than was originally quoted for cleaning and inspection. However, after he explained the process I accepted the upgraded service. Then they informed me that my fireplace needed repair. . I knew it was loose but again, they explained it all to me and went to work on it. On both counts I thought the initial price was a little high. We negotiated a price I could live with. Not only did they fix the problem, they painted the metal on the front of the fireplace. When I got home I was very impressed with the work. Then to top it off he followed up with a phone call in the evening to make sure I was happy. That proved to me they really did understand customer service."

Chimney Inspection questions, answered by experts

You can walk on a TPO roof, but you should only do so when necessary and wear footwear that’s less likely to puncture the surface. If you anticipate needing to frequently walk on your TPO roof, reinforce walkways to protect against punctures. TPO roofing can also be slippery, so in most cases, you’ll want to leave walking on it to the pros.

Identifies potential damage and prolongs roof life by addressing issues early.

There should be small gaps between your roof and the walls of your home, and other buildings. These small gaps let building materials shift, expand, and contract with weather and other outside forces, and they prevent moisture from wicking down walls from roofing and gutter systems. Without these strategic gaps, your home’s exterior and its finishes can sustain water damage, decay, peel, delaminate, and crack. However, there is a fine line between a smart gap and a problematic gap—all  gaps should be small, intentional, and covered or filled in with foam insulation to prevent pests from using them as access points.

You can start inspecting your roof from the ground by looking for unevenness in the roof lines and slopes. Keep an eye out for broken, damaged, or missing shingles, and look for visible gaps where the roofing material meets exterior walls or roof penetrations, like your chimney. If you’re comfortable getting up on your roof and using the necessary safety equipment, you can get a closer look at these areas to identify signs of damage. If you notice any potential issues, it’s best to call in a professional to confirm your findings.

While some homeowners may feel confident conducting their own roof inspections, hiring a professional roofing inspector is recommended for a safe and accurate assessment. Professional roof inspectors have the knowledge and experience to identify even the smallest signs of damage or potential issues and they can spot problems that may go unnoticed by an untrained eye.
