"We needed a cabinet raised for a taller refrigerator. Cabinet was raised about 4 invhes. Cannot tell it, is not the original height. Danny also adjusted the cabinet doors and adjusted a drawer that would not stay closed. Wish I could upload pictures they are too large.Take my word Danny does awesome work! I have already recommended him to my neighbor. I would recommend him to anyone and will be my first recommendation to anyone that asks or mentions they have a project."

"We’re currently remodeling two bathrooms under the same contract. The first bathroom is complete, and the second one just started this week. While their bid wasn’t the lowest we received, it felt fair and, in hindsight, definitely worth it. The project manager was an excellent communicator—knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and never pressured us to accept the offer. We’re extremely pleased with the quality of work on the first bathroom and are confident the second will turn out just as well. A tip for future clients: make sure you have all the necessary materials on hand. We did, and the team completed the bathroom ahead of schedule. The space is narrow, so the photo angles don’t do it justice, but I hope they still give a sense of the high-quality work delivered."

"He called back within an hour of me contacting him. He arrived at 4:35 pm and finished around 8 pm. He painted a pantry and the shelves. I am happy with the job he did. Kelly is the guy that arrived. I would use this company again and I would ask for Kelly. He did great work."

"We had several issues that needed to be taken care of as a result of hard to find leak. I made many calls to various companies and handymen to try to get help without getting any satisfaction. I picked JY Handyman Services from Angie’s List and upon meeting Jose he assured me that he could address and fix our concerns. Jose worked on our home in late December and early January when we were having the really cold weather. He did some great trouble shooting, found and fixed the leak, did excellent carpentry, dry wall and painting. Jose and his crew have a great can do attitude and kept me informed throughout the project. I will continue to use JY Handyman Services and recommend them for all general home maintenance and remodeling needs."

"Rob and his crew installed a root barrier to protect the back of our house from foundation problems from a large oak tree.  They also added catch basins to existing drainage pipes as well as replacing some piping where needed.  Rob spent a generous amount of time taking a good look at our property, assessing what would work best and answering all of my questions. I was very pleased with the work done and with the people he has on his crew.

"We needed some tile work done to our bathroom. They informed us that the previous work done was incorrect. The area between the bathroom floor and tile was hallow. It was supposed so be filled with some type of hard material; cement. Instead, it was filled with a paper like material which gradually wore away. This left the tile fragile causing it to break easily when stepped on. Y&D were very professional and punctual. I would certainly recommend this company and will use them for future repairs. Thank you!!"

Greenhouses and Nurseries questions, answered by experts

Minor fixes like patching leaks or repainting are DIY-friendly, but structural repairs require professional expertise.

In most cases, wait three to five days to repot or relocate a plant from a greenhouse or nursery. That way, your plant has time to recover from any shock during the move and adapt to the conditions in and around your home. Some hearty plants may not need as long, and delicate plants might need several weeks. You should ask the professional at your nursery for a recommended timeline. Consider asking about an initial watering schedule to help stimulate root growth and promote a healthy plant.

Eco-friendly materials include sustainably-sourced woods, recycled metals, low-VOC paints, and non-toxic sealants, which reduce environmental impact. Using these in repairs promotes sustainability and can improve indoor air quality and overall building health.

Adding burnt charcoal to your garden beds and plant pots can yield several benefits, but there are risks involved, too. Charcoal, particularly biochar, can enhance soil structure, improve water drainage, and increase nutrient retention. When activated, charcoal provides key nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. However, burnt charcoal, especially from briquettes, can inadvertently alter soil's pH levels and become hazardous to plants. Overall, there are better and less risky soil amendments available, such as vermiculite, perlite, or wood chips.

The quickest way you can protect plants and trees from frost is to cover them with garden blankets or frost cloths. Also, bringing potted plants or trees indoors is much simpler than trying to cover and protect them outdoors. Remember to anchor blankets with something such as sandbags, fabric pins, or rocks if the forecast calls for strong winds to keep them from blowing away and exposing your trees and plants.
