Customers say: True professional

"This company is the best Tree Removal Service provider I've ever employed for a project. They take their work very seriously, safety being a #1 area; team showed up with the proper gear, helmets, etc and did an absolutely amazing job removing a very large, old pine. I highly recommend this crew. Very responsive, very attention to detail oriented with excellent customer service. First class all the way!"

"I am very pleased with TreebyTree. Michael gave me a fair estimate and great customer service. I had to change the nature of my service twice and Michael never showed any frustration. The service I eventually received was a tree topping that looked great. I would work with and recommend TreebyTree for any tree service."

"Mason was so nice and did a fantastic job. He grinds the stumps until all of it is removed. He came out the same day I called to give me an estimate and told me when he could come back to do the job. He came out on the day we agreed to and did a great great job. I highly recommend him."

"The service was done exactly as promised and Alex was very responsible and very meticulous. I’d recommend him to do my tree service again. My daughter also used him to clear the trees on her new property and he did an excellent job on that project as well."

Small jobs welcome

"They did an excellent job. Arrived exactly at 9:00 a.m. and worked the entire day... I had about 12 stumps that needed to be ground down, and each one was done precisely as we discussed before starting. I would recommend this professional for any necessary stump grinding, including those in hard to reach areas."

"Very responsive to request for a quote. Same day service which was very welcome. I have used Brock before and, once again, he did an excellent job! I would recommend him to anyone else who is interested in this service without reservation. Many thanks to him! Below is an “after pic” and before was a row of 12 stumps of various sizes."

"See the Google review of this company for pictures of the project. These guys really helped me out of a jamb. I needed someone to tear down an existing garage quickly to meet the deadline for starting construction on a new one. Not only did they beat the original quote i had from someone else (without knowing what that figure was), they also fit me in their schedule within a few days and completed the job in a single day. The original contractor quoted a 3 to 4 day job. I dont even think they took a lunch break. Last but not least, they did top notch work. I will be calling Rocky Top Services for future projects."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

There are a few differences between tree guying and tree staking. Tree guying requires anchor stakes that are shorter and stronger than regular stakes and are driven deeper into the ground at an angle away from the tree. Tree staking uses longer stakes that are set parallel to the tree and are used for smaller trees. Consult a local tree professional to determine which method is best for your tree.

Whether tree roots will continue to grow after a tree has been cut down depends on the species. Some tree roots will eventually die because they can no longer get nutrients through photosynthesis. However, other species that reproduce through root sprouts can continue to grow and produce new sprouts for seven years or more. For example, the roots of elms, ficus, and willows tend to regrow aggressively, while the roots of pines, oaks, and maples will typically die. To determine if a root system is still active, look for new sprouts on the old trunk, stump, or any exposed roots.

The best time to trim trees is in late fall through winter when the tree has slowed its growing for the year. Cold weather stops insects and fungal growth from attacking a new tree wound. Summer and fall are considered the worst times to trim trees, but it’s permissible in certain scenarios, such as tree disease, damaged branches, or small, aesthetic cuts.

A tree branch should start to form roots in about three months. It can take about a year for a tree branch to develop roots strong enough to go in the ground. For best results, start several branches because, no matter how closely you follow instructions, they won’t all form roots. Compost any that aren’t thriving.

Some trees will bounce back just fine, and others will struggle and possibly die. Evergreens, for instance, have a very difficult time recovering after droughts and usually die after periods of extreme dryness. Usually, you’ll have to just wait and see—if the drought occurs in wintertime, it’s possible that your tree will recover during the gentler springtime.
