"We had a critter in between our lower level drywall ceiling and our upper level wood floor that we could hear gnawing incessantly every night for 3 nights in a row and then it just stopped. I called some "exterminating" companies but no one would go up in the attic because we don't have a floor up there or pull down steps...what?!!...I was shocked!! Isn't the attic and the basement or crawlspace the prime location for pests to run amuck?!! And if I had a floor up there, wouldn't it be a bonus room?! Anyway, even though we were not hearing the problem in the attic, I still wanted it checked out to be sure the critter hadn't gnawed through whatever it was working on and relocated! I was so frustrated. I can't even remember what I googled but Classic Wildlife Control came up and boy am I glad!! I called in the afternoon and Doug came out the very next morning!! He was neat and professional, listened to all my ramblings and even put booties over his work boots to come inside! He did a thorough inspection and then discussed our options. I immediately felt at ease with him because he wasn't trying to sell me any contracts or guilt me into buying anything like some of the other companies I contacted. He simply told me what to do to help determine if we had critters coming in and out of the suspected areas and to call him in a couple of days to let him know and he would come back and set traps or we could close off the holes and rest at ease. We also knew that our bird netting at the gables inside the attic was coming off at both ends, another reason I was adamant about someone checking out the attic, and Doug explained that they use wire mesh netting on the outside of the gables and paint it to match your house because if it is in the attic, you cannot tell if it is ever damaged by something trying to get in because you most likely don't spend a lot of time in your attic (unless it has a floor and pull down stairs I guess! lol) and also it is much harder for a critter to push through the mesh when it has the support of the outside of the house instead of when it is simply stapled from the inside...I hadn't thought of that! So needless to say, he is going to be installing that in the next few days! What a wonderful experience all around. "This is one great company and Josh was absolutely amazing ! He asked a lot of questions and very polite , professional , respectful , always calling and letting us know what time he was coming . Knowledgeable about the Flying Squirrel ð ¿ï¸ problem we had and not in a big rush to get in and out . He has all the equipment and knowledge to do the repairs. Was a little nervous about the initial charge but all the work he performed far surpassed the cost ð ² If you have pest problems this is the very best company out there. You can easily find sprays that claim they are safe for pets and kids. However, we’d rather not use them in our own homes if we’re worried about pet safety: They still include pesticides and other chemicals, and are best avoided in any food prep areas like the kitchen, or any spots where children and pets may place. That’s why sprays didn’t end up in our suggestions for the safest options.
There’s little scientific evidence to suggest that homemade remedies to ward off wildlife are effective. But, often, when using them alongside other management techniques, it won’t do any harm to try. Suggestions include using urine-soaked kitty litter or sweat-soaked clothing items. Try applying them around your fence perimeters. Always read the instructions carefully for any commercially-bought repellents and opt for EPA-approved products. Multiple applications, especially after rain, are often necessary.
Spraying for ticks does a good job of eliminating the existing ticks in your yard. Moderate to severe infestations might require several treatment sessions, but most infestations are well controlled with enough treatments, regardless of their severity.
However, wildlife, pets, and people can still carry ticks into a yard, even after treatment, so if you're concerned about ticks in your area, it's a good idea to spray annually for tick prevention.
