Customers say: True professional

"J&T did an outstanding tree removal job for me. Jacob was prompt in getting to the site and providing an estimate. He returned to do the work exactly when he said they would. Their attention to safety for themselves and for structures on the property were also commendable. I would readily hire them again for future work."

"I am very happy with the service Wesley and all the people I was in contact with have provided. From the first phone call to the end of the project these people were great. They removed a huge maple tree that died from my yard. They are easy to reach, very responsive, careful not to damage anything, cleaned up the job site completely, very reasonable with the price that is very low and very friendly and respectful in all interactions. They completed this job on June 12, 2026. I will always hire them for any tree service, yard cleanup, outdoor plumbing or fence replacement projects. I highly recommend them to my friends."

"Mason was so nice and did a fantastic job. He grinds the stumps until all of it is removed. He came out the same day I called to give me an estimate and told me when he could come back to do the job. He came out on the day we agreed to and did a great great job. I highly recommend him."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

The best time to trim trees is in late fall through winter when the tree has slowed its growing for the year. Cold weather stops insects and fungal growth from attacking a new tree wound. Summer and fall are considered the worst times to trim trees, but it’s permissible in certain scenarios, such as tree disease, damaged branches, or small, aesthetic cuts.

The best tool to cut trees is a chain saw. You can adjust your chain saw to the correct size based on the size of the branches, offering you the fastest and cleanest cut for medium- to large-sized trees. Depending on the type of chainsaw you use, you can cut through larger trees than you would with a more manual tool like an ax.

The best tools for tree removal include a chainsaw for large trees, an ax for notching and cutting down small trees, and a wedge to help control the direction a tree falls in. A hatchet can be useful for very small trees, but won’t be effective for medium to large trees.

Any cutting of tree roots can hurt or kill a tree, which is why it's recommended you don’t do it unless the roots are damaging or invasive on a nearby structure like your home. You should never cut more than 15 percent of above-ground tree roots at one time. If you have any questions about cutting tree roots, contact your local arborist.

Homeowners are usually not responsible for trees that fall on power lines. Power companies usually have utility easements around power lines, which give them the responsibility to maintain any trees within about 15 to 20 feet of the lines.
