"Petey was very easy to work with. He was great with his follow up, came out as promised and kept in contact with me throughout the whole job. This was a big departure from a previous Angi experience. We were looking for an exterminator, and I was reviewing through the list when one morning, at 8am, two men showed up at my door. Normally that wouldn’t be an issue. However, we had just moved into the mountains of Tennessee and had my two elderly in laws living here. They were both frightened at the sight of two strangers. Anyway, the men said they were “from Terminex and had been sent out by there office.” Once I explained that, no, I had not hired any one, a call to their office confirmed that someone from Angi had told them that we had in fact hired Terminex. Factor in the labor for clearing out the debris and filling the hole, and your project becomes quite a laborious one. If you don’t have experience with operating a stump grinder, it might be best to call a professional to do the job for you.

Yes, you can build over a stump if the roots are no longer alive. Living roots will continue to grow and may damage your new construction over time. Similarly, you should also remove rotting stumps because they may continue to attract pests and even cause new structures (especially those made from wood) to decompose as well.

It is possible to burn out a tree stump if it is dried out and in an area of your property with a large buffer. Drill holes in the stump and dig around the base so it burns more easily.
