"A home is the most expensive item a family is ever likely to purchase. And the purchasing of a twenty-year-old house is likely to be filled with even more expensive surprises. In January of 2022, we had our expensive surprise as a midnight torrential downpour left one giant swimming pool of a puddle in our backyard lanai. The next day, we secured some recommendations and M. Perez Pavers name kept coming up with positive reviews. We called that morning and, by 10 AM the following day, Ana and Mauricio were at our home inspecting the damage. Although we were expecting them to tell us that we needed to replace all of the pavers on the lanai (over 200 square feet) , we were pleasantly surprised (and relieved) when they told us that only the flooded section needed to be lifted (not replaced) and some sand had to be replaced and re-leveled so that rainwater would no longer accumulate in that one spot. We hired M. Perez Pavers immediately and after watching the crew work, were not disappointed. Ana and Mauricio treated our lanai as if it were their own. The process of lifting and leveling was done in a careful, clean, and methodical manner. Ana and Mauricio always communicated with us via telephone calls, texts and continually sent us daily updates. They put in full days of work for two days, stopping only to have lunch. And when they were done, they cleaned all debris, and power washed our lanai. In fact, we were so happy with their work, we hired M. Perez Pavers re-cement our driveway edges, which, due to twenty years of usage and weather conditions had cracked and weakened in many places along the edges of our driveway. Thanks to Mauricio and Ana, we now have a lanaiâ ¦ free of accumulating rainwater, repaired to allow it to last that way for many years to come. We certainly dodged the â proverbialâ bullet by hiring M. Perez Pavers. Broken glass cannot usually be recycled. Most recycling programs state that glass must be intact in the form of bottles or jars in order to be recycled. You may be able to recycle broken glass at a drop-off recycling facility—contact the facility to see if they accept broken glass.

There is no blanket number when it comes to glass thickness for soundproofing. Thicker glass does help reduce noise, but it’s only part of the solution. Most single-pane windows use glass that’s ⅛” to ¼” thick. While increasing the thickness can cut down on sound, the real noise-blocking power comes from stacking layers. Double—and triple-pane windows are far more effective for soundproofing. The combination of mass and separation breaks up sound waves better than thick glass could on its own.

Once you’ve gotten any scuff marks, grime, and burn marks off your glass stovetop you can use vinegar to finalize the clean without leaving streaks. Just put some white vinegar in a spray bottle and spritz it onto the stovetop before wiping it in a consistent direction with a microfiber cloth.

The methods outlined here are intended for surface scratches—ones that don’t cut into the glass very deeply. For deep scratches, you should consider a more comprehensive glass scratch repair kit. These kits come with abrasives, polishing compounds, and specialized tools designed for removing deep scratches from glass. If you feel uncomfortable tackling a deep scratch on your own, consider calling a local glass repair contractor.

You can use a commercial water repellent treatment for glass on your shower doors to prevent water spots. Take care to only apply the product to glass. Letting air circulate also helps prevent water spots, as water is less likely to remain on the glass for a long time with good air circulation. Run your vent fan, open a window, and leave the shower door open for about half an hour after using the shower.
