    We obtained a plan from Choice Home Warranty (CHW) in 09/20 when we purchased our home. In 12/20, our heat pump malfunctioned. We filed a claim, and CHW said due to the lack of available technicians we could call a technician and apply for reimbursement. Our technician found a faulty capacitor and a loose connection that caused the compressor to not operate. He made the necessary repairs to get the unit operating but warned the fix was temporary because the compressor had been weakened and was faulty. He recommended the unit be replaced over the compressor due to the age of the unit. The technician submitted the service documents with photos per CHW's instructions. CHW denied the claim stating the failure was due to a previous improper repair even though the unit was inspected twice before the malfunction. We appealed. The primary case manager continued to deny the claim stating the failure was caused by an improperly installed connector even though he admitted he had no electrical experience or training. We provided a letter from the company’s service manager stating the malfunction was NOT caused by a previous improper repair or a pre-existing condition and the needed repair was due to age and normal wear during use, but they still denied the claim. A second case manger called the connector a “shortcut” and a pre-existing condition even though she also stated she had no electrical experience or training. The contract states “This Contract provides coverage for unknown/undetectable pre-existing conditions so long as the malfunction could not, or would not, have been detected by a visual inspection or simple mechanical test.” A house inspection report on 8/20/20 stated the unit was functioning properly, and the service company's letter also stated a complete inspection conducted on 10/5/20 showed proper operation of the unit in all modes. We also provided the technician’s notes which made no reference to a previous improper repair or pre-existing condition. The contract lists conditions where repairs are not covered. It states "we are not responsible for repairs related to inadequacy, lack of capacity, improper installation, mismatched systems, oversized systems, undersized systems, previous repair or design, manufacturer's defect, and any modification to the system or appliance." The unit was inspected by qualified technicians twice prior to the failure, and their documents indicate NO pre-existing conditions exist. CHW’s denial of this claim is based on an illogical assumption by unqualified case managers. The documents we provided directly contradict their decision. This case should discourage home owners from entering into an agreement with this company.

    Fine until it was time to fix the ruts in the yard.had to call them a couple of times they came out after a few days right before dark and didn't cover all of the ruts.So I'm doing it myself a little at a time trying to smooth it back out after I get off work each day.If you want something done right you better do it yourself thanks.

    Brad came in and look at my (LG) washer, it had been making a noise during the spin cycle. I had to show him how to use the spin cycle without turning the washer completely on, we put clothes in it so he could hear the noise. He said he was not sure what it was, he said he could order shocks, but he was not sure that was what it was. He looked at the dryer and did not say much. When I made the appointment, I told Anna (his wife) that I needed the dryer cleaned out, I also told her they were stacked. She said that would not be a problem. I did not want Brad to order the shocks if he was not sure what it was, I paid him $75.00 to come out to my house. I told him I need the dryer cleaned out and he just looked at me and didn't say anything. He then left. The next day I called Anna and she said they could still order the shocks if I wanted them too. I told her if he was not sure what the problem was then I do not want to pay for the shocks. I also told her that he did not clean my dryer as I requested. She said she forgot to put it on the repair order. She said she would talk with Brad and get back with me and never did.     Received $250 towards replacing which costs almost twice that much. When I complained they said they had the right to substitute monies when they can't repair and that $250 was all that could pay. Needless to say I am not happy.

    I am very pleased with all the service calls I have had with All Better Appliance. The repair tech, Brandon, is very polite, knowledgeable and efficient. Although my appliances were purchased used and are being used in rental property, Brandon has been able to economically repair both a refrigerator and a dryer, saving me the expense of purchasing new appliances. He is always reliable and courteous and I trust him with all my appliance repair needs and have never been disappointed. On the last service call for a dryer in a rental unit, I had to call him back out when the tenant called to say it was not drying properly again. Brandon came back out the next day and repaired the dryer vent hose where the tenant had pushed the machine too close to the wall and crimped the hose. He did not charge me an additional fee or trip charge for that additional repair, even though it was not related to the initial repair. They have been out on nights, weekends and holidays at no additional cost. Whether managing rental units or your own appliance repair needs, you can trust All Better Appliance to do a fast, quality repair at a reasonable price. Thanks!
