After some scheduling conflicts ( he stays very busy) he met my wife and I at our home and gave us an estimate for the work. It seemed there were a few other scheduling conflicts but he finally started and and did a great job. The only gripe I might have is that he seems to run the concrete where it is easiest for his men to do the work, and not necessarily where it wouldn't cause future problem with lawn care, or where I might want it. However, I accept some of the blame for that since I didn't stop him and have him do it over, and there was one area my wife wasn't happy with and Mike did re-poured that area with no complaints. I asked Mike about doing some concrete repair on my porch involving some decorative design work, but he has never gotten back with me or provided drawings of his ideas. If you can get Mike to do the work, he is good at his craft! I would definitely use him again. Inc. (FCI) was contracted to level and prepare a concrete slab floor and then to install ceramic tile and wood flooring (see attached invoice). After floor preparation, flooring was installed in our first floor living area. FCI first installed tile without completely finishing, and then laid the wood flooring. Once this was installed we indicated dissatisfaction with the floor. The tile was laid first and we were assured that it would match the level of the wood flooring. There are places where there is 1/8 inch difference at the transition creating a trip hazard. FCI personnel had forgotten that the tile was 3/8 in thick and the wood flooring was 1/2 inch thick, so he ran into trouble because the 2 inch square tiles at the transition had to be severely angled to meet at the transition. The installed tile were not well leveled, although in the interest of meeting our goals to finish the flooring we paid FCI partially. The unevenness is evident at the edge of the wood trim installed at the wall. There is some unevenness that can be attributed to the tile, but even a casual observer can see that the tiles themselves are not on the same plane with each other. The wood was then partially installed. FCI personnel could not finish all the installation because of the unevenness of the transitions and flooring. We also showed him where there were many palpable rises and dips in the flooring where his leveling was done improperly. We had repeatedly shown him problems with the way he had used Ardex (floor leveling compound) before the flooring was laid, but he assured us that he could fix any leveling issue that was within 1/2 inch before installation, and that everything in the room met that criterion. Note that the flooring manufacturer allows for a 3/16 inch rise or drop over 10 feet. Normal interpretation of this is that the floor is a plane that might drop as much as 3/16 inch in 10 feet, not that there would be rises and dips of 1/2 inch from level in repeated spots around the entire floor, as the FCI installer was trying to claim as his ?legitimate? target. There were places where there was 3/4 inch difference in level within 4 feet. We hired a residential home inspector to come to our home and record the state of the floor installation at that point (see attached Home Inspection report). FCI installer was easy to communicate with before we indicated that the installation was not acceptable, but afterwards, he would not respond promptly to calls, emails or text messages and twice told us he would be there to work on the problem and then cancelled at the last minute to help another customer. He has torn out about 1/3 of the living room flooring to replace it, but the original installation began in April, 2012, and it was getting longer and longer between his ?attempts? to make this right. Mr. Spencer offered to help with releveling the floor and the FCI installer was nearly vicious in his assertion that he would take care of it. His assistant partially removed cement with a grinder but FCI personnel told him he was done. Even the remaining flooring still measured 1/4 inch high in one and a half feet. We lost confidence in FCI?s ability and desire to actually fix the floor in a professional and timely manner. However in an attempt to simply get the job done, Mr. Spencer agreed to repair the leveling himself if FCI would remove the flooring that was beyond what we could live with and then return to install the remainder of the floor. Mr. Spencer finished this by Feb 2013, and restarted communication with the FCI installer to get the flooring reinstalled. FCI personnel stalled and stalled (email communications transcript is available) until April of 2013 by which time Mrs. Spencer had a nervous breakdown and so Mr. Spencer made other arrangements to finish the installation.

FAQs for concrete finishing projects in Prospect, TN
Concrete repair costs range anywhere from about $0.10 to $0.15 per linear foot to fill minor cracks, to about $6 to $14 per square foot to replace damaged concrete slabs. Repair costs vary widely depending on the size and type of work needed. For example, replacing 100 square feet of driveway will cost between $600 to $1,400, on average.
The average cost of stamped concrete is around $12 per square foot, but you might pay anywhere from $8 to $28 per square foot. The average 12-foot by 12-foot patio costs $1,730 on average. Your exact pricing will depend on the patio’s square footage, the condition of the area where you want to pour the concrete, the desired stamp pattern, concrete coloring, concrete grade, and local labor prices. Don’t forget to budget for extra costs like land preparation and additional concrete fortifications if necessary.
Depending on the cost to repair your driveway, it may be more cost effective to tear out and replace it with a new concrete driveway. The cost to repave a driveway ranges between $1,400 and $12,100, including removal of the old concrete. Contact a reputable concrete contractor for advice and an estimate. They may have a good reason for going with repairs or replacement after assessing your driveway. You may also have the option to resurface your driveway or pave over it without taking out the existing one.
It’s possible to create stamped concrete yourself, but we don’t recommend it and it’s often not cost-effective. It’s easy to mess up the pattern of a stamped concrete patio or walkway, leaving you with an unsightly home exterior rather than the elegant solution you wanted. Any mistakes made during the ground leveling and concrete pouring process will also increase the risk of cracks forming on your concrete. Additionally, buying enough stamps to get the pattern in before your concrete cures can cost as much as hiring a professional to do the work for you.
Concrete contractors typically charge anywhere from $6 to $14 per square foot. Cost factors include job size, site prep, base material, accessibility, your location, concrete finish, and concrete thickness. Removal of existing concrete, asphalt, deck, pavers, and grass will cost anywhere from $1 to $6 per square foot. Homeowners can often save money by removing and disposing of existing pavers, decks, and grass. Breaking up and hauling away concrete and asphalt is difficult and time-consuming without the proper equipment and may be worth having the pros do that work.
