"I recently had my roof replaced and I have to say the quality of work was outstanding. The crew completed the job in two days. From the beginning, I felt confident thanks to the professionalism of the team especially Cody and Jessica. They were incredibly knowledgeable and walked me through every step of the process. Their guidance was especially helpful when it came to dealing with my insurance company something I was dreading and was an overall of a nightmare, but they helped make it smooth and manageable. The customer service was also a highlight. Whenever I had questions or concerns, Jessica was available to respond quickly and thoughtfully. After the storm damage, I was stressed and overwhelmed, but their support made a huge difference. That said, there were a couple of bumps along the way. I did experience some communication issues, but overall they did a great job! I appreciate all of their effort and hard work."

Chimney Caps questions, answered by experts

Venting a gas water heater out of the roof is preferable in most cases. Heated exhaust gases naturally rise, so a vertical vent pipe is efficient. If you’re trying to vent through a pipe exiting a wall, the angle of the pipe may be more horizontal than vertical, making the venting system less effective. If you go through a wall, you may need to add a fan to ensure a successful expulsion of the gases outdoors.

If a roof is not vented, trapped air and moisture have nowhere to go and will cause moisture to build up in the attic. When moisture builds up, it can cause mold and mildew, leaks, and rot. It will make the space hot and stuffy, which can result in higher energy bills as the HVAC system works overtime to regulate the temperature.

Always inform your insurance company when you get a new roof. A new roof may entitle you to lower rates or discounts, and if you need to make a claim, they’ll have up-to-date information on your roof. You’ll need to provide documentation—ask your insurance agent what you need to submit to prove you had your roof replaced.

The principal, common, and auxiliary rafters are the most frequently used types of rafters. Principal rafters are large and typically appear toward the edges of the roof. Common rafters are smaller than principal rafters. Some people may use a mix of common and principal rafters. The auxiliary rafter is not common, but it provides extra reinforcement for a principal rafter on a large building.

Removing snow from your roof can help prevent ice dams, but the best thing to do is address insulation issues in your attic. If you do decide to remove the snow manually, you should always use a roof rake rather than a shovel. You shouldn’t climb your snowy roof in any circumstance, and roof rake allows you to remove the snow from the ground or a ladder. For the best results, remove snow as soon as possible after it falls.
