I called on Wednesday and they arrived the same day to check it out. couldn't determine the real problem until Thursday. After digging up the old septic tank, it was determined that it was no longer serviceable and had to be replaced. Excavating for the septic tank and the drainfield made a real mess in our back yard but the bobcat operator was as careful as possible with the mature landscaping and did the best he could to contain the damage and still be able to install the size drainfield that was required. They were able to get our sewer system back on line by Friday so we could flush toilets, shower and run the dishwasher. By Monday the job was essentially finished and by Tuesday the ground was compacted and straw was sown over the bare ground

Crew arrived on time and performed work as promised. In the process, they located a small leak and repaired for an additional $90. They cleaned up after themselves and fixed my yard back to nearly-new status. Overall, great work.

I got Lloyds name on a referral. Lloyds has a reputation for finding old systems and being able to reconnect them. He did so in this case and was able to reconnect the old system to the septic tank, below a level the house is on. To get to the level is required him to remove shrubs and trees, which he did. He left out a couple of pieces of pipe to show it was totally disconnected and dry. They system has been working very well ever since he did the work. We got the bonus of cleaning up down below the system and I felt good about it. He was already doing work in this area so he was able to get to us within a few days of our request. If he had had to build a new system, he would have had to get county approval and it would have taken some time. In terms of price I was anticipating $10,000 so his price was very appealing. I was not at home during the work. By the time we got back into town, he had already done the work and was finished. I can say on the basis of performance it was very well done. His responsiveness was amazing! His punctuality was great. He came when promised and was done so fast I could hardly believe it! I have not had an occasion to do this before, but as far as I could tell he was very professional with how he conducted himself. I did not roll out a contract, similar to my roofing project I am about to do, but he said I will do it for $3500, we shook hands and agreed to it. I would use him again and he told me to call him if I ever have problems

The work took two days, as predicted in their estimate. I was impressed with the deliberate, careful way in which the work was performed; this was not a job in which speed was required and working too fast could have resulted in sloppy work or errors. Instead, they discussed the project with me until they understood it thoroughly, took their time to think things through, and worked at a steady pace. Leon, who was in charge, installed the pipe with the printed labelling facing toward the wall rather than outward, because it looks better; I took that as a mark of how conscientious he is in his work. The work was done on schedule and for the estimated cost-no shedule or cost overruns. The new plumbing has been in place for over two weeks with no leaks or problems. It should be noted that I volunteered to do some hand digging outside, in order to expose the buried pipe and connection to the septic tank. I then reburied the pipe when the work was completed (and after I'd had a chance to make sure the connection was not leaking). Had they done this work it would have added to the cost and time. But it was part of the agreement we had and I did not mind doing that part in order to save myself some expense

"Called Rose and was told they would not be able to get to it that day as they had a large commercial job at noon. I asked if there was any way they could help me get it done that day and they said they would check. Called me back promptly and said they could do it just before noon. I was not able to be at the house, so they came by and pumped the tank via a riser. Was able to call the office and pay via phone so the whole event was very convenient for me. My only issue was the price. Seems that most septic clean outs, especially with the convenience of the risers, are around $225. I paid extra to get the new lid and risers installed so my next pumping would be cheaper, but this one was more expensive than the one before, even counting the purchase of the new lid and the risers! If they charged more for a rush job they should have told me that at the time. Service and timing were great, but not sure I can afford this company next time.

"I called and spoke to Brian Lloyd. I have a 100 year-old home and was concerned about how our breakers flip off when running appliances, and about how too much of the house ran off what seemed to be one circuit. I wanted the house gone over to see what should be done to make it safe, and I also needed more outlets, and many old wall heaters removed (one in every room). So phase I was to inspect and to make some safety corrections. Lloyd's grounded our wiring at the box and put labels in because ours were labeled all wrong. They traced out each wall heater thru the house and disconnected at the panel. They disconnected an old range feed that we don't use. They cleaned up old wire not being used in the basement. They also removed the old hot water heater feed and used one of the wall heater feeds to feed to the water heater instead. That cost around $760 total. Phase II was in the early summer, a very busy time for them, I think. It took a while to get this part scheduled--a matter of weeks, but this was a pretty big job. Brian had said he could transform the old wall heaters connectors into the extra electrical outlets I needed so we had new outlets in each room. Plus they added extras in my daughter's room, the bathroom and my bedroom per our request. They added a dedicated receptacle for the dishwasher in the kitchen as well. Also, I was opening up the back porch to use as a laundry and needed a receptacle for the washer added there. We also had an old eyesore of a wired-in light over the sink removed. I bought my own light to replace it.. So we had pretty extensive work done. That part took up most of a day and ended up costing me around $1,400 after a discount. Brian Lloyd came in at the beginning to talk to me again and to set up a plan, and then supervised everything to make sure it was done right. He was so conscientious and just really understanding and so very careful to make sure this old house was finally safe. A good man and a good company. I never want to use another electrical company.
Replacing a drain field requires digging up quite a bit of land and involves a decent amount of testing. Using this guide, you’ll learn how much it costs to replace a drain field based on a few key factors such as size and type of septic system.
If you’re wondering whether it’s safe to grow plants over your septic tank, the answer is yes, as long as you stick with plants that have shallow root systems to avoid damaging the septic system. Learn the best plants to install over a septic tank.
Answer: There are several signs that indicate your septic tank could be full. These include standing water over your septic tank, a strong odor coming from your yard, gurgling water, slow drains, or a sewage backup. While many of these signs could also be indicative of a clogged system, they should all be checked out by a professional ASAP to avoid costly damages. In the absence of any of these signs, it’s recommended that septic tanks be emptied every 3 to 5 years on average.
How often should a septic tank be serviced?
Answer: On average, septic tanks should be serviced every 3 to 5 years in the absence of any worrying signs that the tank is clogged or full. The size of your septic tank, the number of people living in your home, and your average water usage will all impact how often your septic tank needs to be serviced.
What are the most common causes of septic tank failure?
Answer: The most common cause of septic tank failure is improper maintenance. Failing to pump a septic tank on the appropriate schedule will cause septic tank failure and likely result in a costly septic tank repair or replacement. On average, septic tanks should be pumped every 3 to 5 years, but the size of your tank, the number of people in your home, and your average water usage may shorten or extend this timeframe.
How much does it cost to pump a septic tank?
Answer: The cost to pump a septic tank is $400 on average or about $0.30 per gallon. The size of your septic tank, as well as local labor costs, will impact the cost of pumping your septic tank. Most septic tanks are between 600 and 2,000 gallons in size, meaning the average cost range is between $180 to $600.
How much does it cost to install a septic system?
Answer: The cost to install a septic tank system is between $3,060 and $9,810, on average. The size of the septic tank you choose, the land you’re installing it on, the type of system you choose, and local labor costs will all influence the total cost of installing a septic system. Anaerobic septic tanks (those that don’t need oxygen) typically cost between $3,000 and $8,000. Aerobic systems, which utilize oxygen to activate bacteria and are popular on smaller properties, usually cost between $10,000 and $20,000.
How long does a septic system last?
Answer: When septic systems are well maintained, they can last up to 30 years or more. If a septic system isn’t properly maintained, such as when it isn’t pumped regularly, it may malfunction and require costly repairs or a premature replacement. In general, septic tank pumping is recommended every 3 to 5 years to ensure the septic system lasts as long as possible.
