"Cody with Blackjack did a wonderful job excavating, clearing and grading my property. He is very honest, responds quickly, and does what he says. All for a fair price, hard to find this quality service these days. Highly recommend!"

"We had Michael Sovastion and Wade Loden out to our property to do some land clearing. Both gentlemen were on time. They were within the budget quoted. The work conducted was impeccable. They were polite, and went above and beyond. The care that they put into the job was most outstanding. I was very impressed of the attention to detail and care that was put into the equipment the used for the job. (This is a Military small owned business) that is doing outstanding work at every level. I plan to bring them back for more work in the future. My wife and myself are retired Military, we expect attention to detail and we got it 100% and then some. They have set the standard for all others to follow. "We hired J&A (Juan) and his team to complete a drywall job and some exterior painting at our home. Juan provided a competitive quote for the work to be done, communicated throughout the job as work progressed and finished up as scheduled. I highly recommend J&A Remodeling for any job you want completed at a reasonable rate and in a professional manner."

Land Clearing Services questions, answered by experts

Yes, new home construction will always require building permits, no matter where you live. In most cases, you’ll need a general construction permit, along with plumbing and electrical permits for the utility lines in your home. Depending on where you live, you’ll likely find that you also need permits for things like connection to a sewage system or installing exterior components, like decks, driveways, patios, and curb cutouts. Leave navigating the permits required for new home construction to a professional to ensure your home is built legally and safely.

If a buyer pays for a survey, the surveyor they hired will only provide results to them. It’s up to the buyer whether they share the survey results with the seller or not, even if they ultimately walk away from the deal. It’s considered good faith to share the results with the seller, though, especially if you back out of the deal, as the seller can then provide that survey to future interested parties.

A land survey can take anywhere from a few hours to a month or more, depending on the size of the property, the type of survey, the property’s accessibility and topography, and the availability of historical property records. A simple boundary survey to determine a fence line can be completed in a day while surveying 50 acres of undeveloped woodlands may take weeks or longer.

Measure from zero on a measuring tape by placing the metal hook right up against the edge of what you need to measure. You can also latch the hook onto an open edge—of, say, a table—to accurately measure as well. If you begin at the 1-inch mark, you'll need to subtract an inch from your total.

Permit requirements to clear land vary by municipality, so whether or not you need permits depends on where you live and what you’re removing from the land. Some building departments will require permits for any underground work or excavation, meaning grinding down tree stumps on your property would require permits. Others mandate individual permits for each tree you remove. You can contact your local building department or a land-clearing specialist near you to see if permits are necessary for your job.
