"The SparKlean team was outstanding. They arrived on time, worked ho*** ** my flooring project for two days straight, and even purchased products on my behalf that we’re needed. They were very kind, easy to work with, and I would recommend them to anyone. Their work was outstanding. They focused on the small details as well as the more extensive nuisances. Also, their pricing was outstanding! I hadn’t found anyone that even competed with their price. Do yourself a favor and give them a call; you won’t be disappointed. I couldn’t have gotten a better deal or result anywhere else!"

"The service was wonderful. Two colors were used. I did not like one of the colors and they repainted for me, without hesitation. Wonderful service. Fast too. On time and reasonable price. Beautiful outcome. Would highly recommend to anyone needing any painting done."

"Essential pressure wash was a great hire. They were able to do a lot more than I had anticipated and all with quality work. They completely stained my cabin and deck, tiled my kitchen and bathroom floors, Replaced the standalone tub in our bathroom, painted our front door, replaced all of our gutters and installed gutter guards, helped with electrical work with a licensed electrician, replaced the lattice of my deck as well as some other odds and ends. He always went above and beyond and was great at communicating throughout the project. They cleaned up after themselves and everybody was personable, professional and kind. They were able to deliver within a timely manner for our renters coming next week. Highly recommend!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

The longevity of paint on wood depends on factors like the quality of the paint, surface preparation, exposure to elements, and maintenance. Exterior paint on wood surfaces can last 5 to 15 years or more with proper care and maintenance. Interior paint tends to have a longer life span, often 10 years or more. Regular cleaning, touch-ups, and addressing any issues like peeling or cracking can extend the life of the paint.

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood to help prevent the boards from cracking. However, you must wait for the wood to dry out completely before applying any finish. Freshly treated wood can take weeks or even months to dry; a common recommendation is to wait three to six months. To check if the wood is ready, perform a simple water test: drip some water onto the surface. If the water beads up, the wood is still too wet and needs more time to dry. If the wood absorbs the water, it is dry enough to be painted or stained. You can proceed with building your deck or fence while the wood is still wet, but you will need to wait to apply the paint or stain.

Staining a deck with a rag is typically a better option than using a brush, as it helps the stain penetrate deeper into the wood. However, both brushes and rags are best reserved for detailed work because using these tools on an entire deck can require tediously crawling around on your hands and knees. A pad applicator, sprayer, or roller are preferred alternatives to applying stain over the majority of a deck. Use a rag for railings and other detailed work, and let the wood soak up as much of the stain as possible before wiping away drips or pools.

You’ll need to wait until the surface is completely dry, which can take anywhere from 24 to 48 hours under optimal conditions. The waiting period depends on several factors, including the type of siding and the weather conditions. Trying to paint before the surface is completely dry can trap moisture under the paint, leading to bubbling, blistering, and mold growth.

Wood stains last anywhere from two to five years, depending on exposure to the elements, your local climate, the type of stain, and the surface it’s on. For instance, vertical surfaces last longer than horizontal surfaces. Some types of woods, like dense hardwoods, will require a recoat yearly, as they are too dense for the stain to absorb. In any event, apply a recoat every 2 to 4 years. As for storage, a can of unopened stain can last up to 5 years, though results may vary.
