"The job went great. We have an entrance to the bedroom from a back porch so the painters did not have to go through any other part of the house. They did not leave any thrash laying around and were very neat. I would highly recommend them to anyone else. We had another contractor bid the job and the prices were comparable. We chose Brad because he looked more professional. "
"Mr Morgan covered everything in plastic and took extensive efforts to protect our belongings as best he could. We did multiple walk throughs together to make sure I was satisfied. If I found areas where I thought it needed to be touched up or sanded more he did so. He made efforts to try and fix a pretty rough original drywall job that previous contractors tried to hide with lots of popcorn. His communication was excellent and he was very respectful and presentable. The project stayed on schedule despite various blips that tend to come up in a renovation. He was great and will hire him again in the future without question."
"I originally hired Sam and his crew to complete a remodel on my master bath. I received bids from several contractors. Not only was Sam well under in price, but his overall demeanor and customer service made me feel instantly at ease. Throughout the project, Sam and his crew were professional, courteous, and overall a pleasure to work with. The bathroom turned out so amazing that I hired them a few months later to build a screened in porch off the back of the house. Once again, the quality and value were top notch!. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Pro Building Solutions to my friends and family, and will continue to call them for projects in the future, big or small. They are the only contractor in Huntsville I'll use!!!"
"Last year I had a tankless gas water heater installed and the vent through the roof had developed a leak. The $49 advertized price was said to include sealing of roof vents yet when the contractor came out he quoted an additional $100 price to reseal one vent. I questioned him on what was included in the advertized price and he claimed this sealing was not. I reluctantly agreed based on the fact that it would cost at least $100 to have another contractor come out and do the job.
UPDATE: At the Contractor's request and to make sure I had said nothing wrong I re-reviewed the coupon. It says
Here's the Deal: - $49 for inspection of your roof by a roofing specialist and a $100 repair credit - Minor roof repairs that can cause water infiltration - Caulking exposed nail heads on flashing - Maintenance of RESEALING AROUND ANY UNSEALED PIPE COLLARS, EXHAUST FANS/VENTS AND CHIMNEY FLASHING - UP TO FOUR PENETRATIONS - Photos taken of any additional areas in need of maintenance and a plan of action presented
".The contractor assessed the source of the water leaking into our basement. He was adamant that he could not guarantee that his simple repair would work, but he wanted to try it before embarking on the expensive task of digging down and resealing the basement. Since the leak had just appeared recently (and after some gardening work in that area), we agreed to risk the $1000 to try to caulk up the holes and regraded the soil near the leak. They came on time, finished on time, worked neatly and, most importantly, seemed to be effective in the results of the repair. I definitely would use them again even though, I felt, that the little time that it took them to repair did not seem to be worth $1000. On the other hand, I do not really know what a fair price is."
"There were some unforeseen delays due to contractors family death & a hospitalization but the workers knew how to do anything that was needed. I was very pleased with the workmanship & overall job."
"I have worked with over 20 different contractors in the last year or so. Ron by far is the best we've seen! His attention to detail and professionalism is first class. He and his crew came right in and began work immediately; he's strictly business and can do a little bit of everything; and he does it all well; he's a real perfectionist at his skills and we loved that! He's reliable, dependable, and reasonably priced for the services he provides. He came behind other contractors who ripped us off and corrected all their sloppy work. We have finally found someone who is honest, detailed, and provides OUTSTANDING QUALITY WORK. He just finished another job for us today. He repaired several areas in my drywall and painted the entire area flawlessly! He went above and beyond on this job; he constantly checked with us to make sure everything was what we wanted; made recommendations, and did little extras we wasn't even expecting. He cleaned up VERY WELL; actually, it was cleaner when he left than when he arrived. Lol! Ron is a true professional who has one of the best work ethics I have ever seen. He and his crew is the go-to folks for any renovations, projects, fix its, etc. for us for now on. They were also very friendly and accommodating. It took us over a year to find a professional like this. Thanks Ron! I HIGHLY recommend him to all our friends and any new customers looking for solid contractor who aimed to please his customers and actually stands behind his work. We are from Missouri, "THE SHOW ME STATE" and that's exactly what they did and some....We are VERY PLEASED!!!!!! "
"When we decided to redo our kitchen in April of 2012, we knew what we wanted fixed, our budget and that's about it. We started talking to contractors, kitchen design centers and researching ideas. We quickly realized we were in WAY over our heads. A lot of places offer free design services if you buy all of your materials through them. We didn't want to be tied down. We didn't want a complete tear down to the studs, either. Homemade Design to the rescue! First of all the price was an absolute steal for the service provided. Amanda and co. Listened to what we wanted and came up with inovative, functional and beautiful solutions. Our house is old. We wanted to keep that 1920s feel, but still have a dishwasher, granite countertops and stainless appliances! Amanda had the brilliant idea of only replacing the bottom cabinets. She also gave me excellent instructions on how to refinish my existing cabinets so they look like new. This was a perfect solution for US. Homemade Design gave us ideas for layout, cabinets, lighting, wall paint, appliances, furniture, countertops, backsplash, faucets, sink, and cusions for built in. She would have recommended flooring if we wanted, but we didn't. Now, Amanda is more like a consultant...( I actually called her my kitchen remodel therapist). You still are ultimately responsible for the plan and what works for you. If your measurements are off (like mine were) that's on you. I was adament about no island and no microwave over the stove and so she didn't put those in the design. Some suggestions were not my style. And I said so. Honestly, if I picked out my own kitchen it would be so safe: white subway tile or something. Amanda gave me the guts to mix patterns and create something spectacular! It took almost a year to complete ( contractors fault) We did a lot of work ourselves. We bought the cabinets, backsplash tile, light fixtures, table and banquette cusions through Homemade Design at a great discount, we checked!! If you try shopping for any part of your kitchen, the volume of choices can be overwhelming. We loved having Amanda narrow it down for us. Communication was through email, mostly. She never took longer than three business days to respond to my million questions or concerns. Awesome. 5 months later, my kitchen is a dream come true. And I owe it all to Homemade Design! "
Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts
Traditionally, bungalows are single-story homes, although having a half or partial story on top of the first floor is common. While adding a second story to a bungalow is certainly possible, the home would no longer be considered a bungalow by the strictest definition.
A cross brace for a fence gate should stretch from the top corner of the gate’s hinge side to the bottom corner of its latch side at a 45-degree angle to the bottom of the gate. This positioning distributes the bulk of the gate’s weight to the base of the post, taking pressure off the top hinge.
The cost to convert a carport into a garage averages about $22,000, ranging from about $15,000 and $55,000. Additional cost factors to consider include size, time of year, and how much of the carport you can reuse. Other cost factors include the kinds and amounts of materials used, such as:
Add insulation: $1 per square foot
Add drywall: $1–$3 per square foot
Add window: $450–$2,000 per window
Add outlets: $75–$500
Add garage door: $250–$11,200
Enclose framing: $5–$13 per square foot
Replace roofing: $1,000–$2,000
The average cost of DIY window framing is about $40 to $60 in materials. If you hire a window treatment professional, you’ll pay for materials plus labor costs—anywhere from $250 to $800 per window. The final cost is highly dependent on the window size, as larger windows are heavier and more difficult to install, as well as the type of window framing material.
Removing a load-bearing wall affects the structural integrity of your home, so you’ll need a permit before starting the work. Building codes vary by municipality, and obtaining a permit and having the work inspected after completion will ensure you’re in compliance with all applicable regulations.
