"Martinez Tree service was responsive to my initial call. When the weather was bad they quickly rescheduled my work. They did a great job taking down my 2 dead trees. They took down one tree that was snagged and leaning towards my neighbors house, but, got it to fall perfectly into my property. Very impressive. I would hire them again."

"These guys were so amazing!! I literally reach out to them and the same day they came out to access my yard for tree removal! They care about their quality of work and your home and property. After Hurricane Helene I had many trees that feel, were about to fall, and leaning on my house. They not only cut the trees down and go the trees off my house they cleaned up my yard too! Completely topping a plum tree is a risky business. Cut too much, and you’ll kill your tree. That said, you do need to trim the top of your tree to encourage bushy growth, maintain your tree’s vase shape, and limit size. 

A plum tree's central leader (or trunk) should never extend more than 3 feet above the highest branch. When you first plant your tree, cut the central leader so it’s 2 to 3 feet tall. As it grows, cut it back 12 to 20 inches until it reaches its desired height. Never prune more than one-third of the new growth.

Trees don’t usually grow back after being cut down. Some particularly robust tree species may start sending up new stems from a stump to recover, but those stems won’t become a “tree” like before.
