"A home is the most expensive item a family is ever likely to purchase. And the purchasing of a twenty-year-old house is likely to be filled with even more expensive surprises. In January of 2022, we had our expensive surprise as a midnight torrential downpour left one giant swimming pool of a puddle in our backyard lanai. The next day, we secured some recommendations and M. Perez Pavers name kept coming up with positive reviews. We called that morning and, by 10 AM the following day, Ana and Mauricio were at our home inspecting the damage. Although we were expecting them to tell us that we needed to replace all of the pavers on the lanai (over 200 square feet) , we were pleasantly surprised (and relieved) when they told us that only the flooded section needed to be lifted (not replaced) and some sand had to be replaced and re-leveled so that rainwater would no longer accumulate in that one spot. We hired M. Perez Pavers immediately and after watching the crew work, were not disappointed. Ana and Mauricio treated our lanai as if it were their own. The process of lifting and leveling was done in a careful, clean, and methodical manner. Ana and Mauricio always communicated with us via telephone calls, texts and continually sent us daily updates. They put in full days of work for two days, stopping only to have lunch. And when they were done, they cleaned all debris, and power washed our lanai. In fact, we were so happy with their work, we hired M. Perez Pavers re-cement our driveway edges, which, due to twenty years of usage and weather conditions had cracked and weakened in many places along the edges of our driveway. Thanks to Mauricio and Ana, we now have a lanaiâ ¦ free of accumulating rainwater, repaired to allow it to last that way for many years to come. We certainly dodged the â proverbialâ bullet by hiring M. Perez Pavers. We enthusiastically recommend them to anyone who wants an honest assessment paver repair of lanais and driveways, followed by top rate repairs done by personable, proficient professionals. Pool Table Assembly questions, answered by experts

The total time to install an inground pool typically ranges from 8 weeks to 4 months. This timeline can be influenced by several factors, including permitting, site preparation, and the construction process itself.

Key phases and their typical durations include:

  • Permits: Obtaining necessary permits can take anywhere from two to six weeks.

  • Excavation and Site Preparation: This phase takes about a week but can be extended by problematic soil, unexpected ground conditions, or the need to move underground utility lines.

  • Construction: The actual build, including plumbing and electrical work, often takes one to two months. The pool material is a major factor here; a concrete pool needs about 30 days to cure, while installing a fiberglass or vinyl liner is much faster.

External factors can also cause significant delays:

  • Contractor Availability: Spring and summer are busy seasons, and high demand can lead to long waitlists, potentially adding months to your start date. It is often recommended to start planning and getting estimates up to a year in advance.

  • Other Delays: Weather, material shortages, complex designs, and other unforeseen challenges can extend the project timeline.

How often you should add water to your pool depends on how quickly the water evaporates. Keep an eye on your skimmer box, if you have one. Top up the water in your pool if you notice the water levels are lower than the bottom third of your skimmer. This helps prevent damage to your pump.

Replace all the water in your pool every five to seven years, depending on how often you use your pool, the weather, and whether or not you close your pool for the winter.

Yes, you will need to shock your pool with high levels of chlorine or bromine when you first fill it to kill off bacteria and pathogens. You’ll need to wait for the chlorine concentration to come back down to a safe level before swimming. After that, you can test and maintain the chlorine and other levels as normal. The only exception to this is if you get pool water delivered by a professional. In that case, the water might come pretreated, so you might not need to shock it.

An above-ground pool with a deck can increase your home's value by as much as 4% to 7%, but it depends on your local climate, potential buyers, and the size and condition of your pool. Some buyers see a pool as a liability instead of a luxury, especially if it's at the end of its life span. In general, it's best to add a pool and deck to your property if it will bring you enjoyment—not because it raises the value of your home.

Pool lights are designed to be safe by protecting swimmers from electrocution. These lights are made with waterproof fixtures and seals to prevent contact with the water.

Electrocution from pool lights is still possible, but rare. Faulty wiring or broken lighting equipment can make lights unsafe, so it’s important to replace lights as needed and have an electrician inspect and upgrade the wiring.
