"My job puts me in contact with many contractors in the Jonesborough Tennessee area. I chose Steve and his crew and I was not disappointed. They were very friendly, treated us like family, extremely knowledgeable and very prompt. They completed the job in 3 days as if it was their own home . I recommend HLC Property Management to anyone for large and small projects without hesitation."

"We needed steps added to our deck. Cornerstone assessed our needs and designed and built a stairway that was better than we could ever imagine. There was great care in choosing quality materials and th÷ workmanship was impeccable. It's hard to believe that deck stairs could add value to our home but that's exactly what was accomplished. We would never hesitate to recommend Cornerstone for any job. David is a meticulous master craftsman."

"Brad is a true professional. He did exactly what he said he would and a little bit extra. Work was excellent and cleanup was complete. The tree I needed removed was in a very precarious spot by my pool. He and his team removed it quickly and with no damage to the surrounding area or the pool. I highly recommend this company and will be using them for regular upkeep."

"The team with Gator Cut & Construct did a great job replacing the liner in our above ground pool. After working through some weather delays, they knocked it out. They are experienced and knowledgeable about the process. They took care of some unforseen issues below the pool before installing the new liner. It was a little more involved than originally thought but they addressed everything at a fair price. I would recommend them and will call them again for any pool maintenance needs. Thanks Matthew, I appreciate your help!"

"Austin was very friendly and helpful. Kept me informed fully the whole time. I am in Ohio and the job to be done was in TN. Austin went out of his way to help me pay for material using credit at Lowe's to get my military discount. His price was very reasonable and the quality was great. He took great care of my tenant. He worked fast to get work done before the rain came back in. I will keep his info for future work needed. Carol A. in Ohio for job in Greeneville, TN. FAQs for pool table assembly projects in Spurgeon, TN

The average cost to hire a handyman ranges from about $40 to $140 per hour. Average project cost ranges between $180 and $700, but the cost per hour and per project depends heavily on the type, size, and complexity of the project. The pro’s experience level and your location also factor into how much a handyman charges per hour or per project. You can also expect to pay higher rates or additional fees for emergency services, or around periods of high customer demand, like holidays.

Tipping a handyman is not a requirement or necessarily expected, as they should build a fair wage into the price of the job. However, some people will tip a handyman around $10 to $20 per hour or the equivalent of a day’s pay, depending on the size of the job. But it’s up to your discretion. There are no set rules for tipping a handyman service, but if they did a great job and you’re so inclined to tip, it’s encouraged and will likely be received with thanks.

There are several questions or things to know before hiring a handyman to do any work in your home.

  • What kind of work do they do?

  • Do they have proper licensing?

  • Do they charge for estimates?

  • Is the estimate for both labor and materials?

  • Do they provide references?

  • Do you provide a guarantee?

  • When can you start and finish the job?

  • Do you have any before and after photos of your work?

  • How long have you been doing this kind of work?

  • Do you clean up and dispose of waste when the job is finished?

Yes, you should hire a handyman who’s licensed, certified, and insured, if possible. States have different requirements for handyman licensing, registration, and certifications. If licensing is required in your area, you may pay more for a licensed handyman with experience than one who is not licensed or certified, but you’re likely to get a better end result for your project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local handymen guidelines.
