"Jason and his crew did an outstanding job building our new concrete screened in porch. Aside from some unavoidable weather delays, they finished the job quickly. Unlike many contractors, they did not show up and work two hours one day, then two more the following week, etc. Jason stayed in communication with me to let me know timeliness, schedule, etc. As they worked, we kept finding other projects and as we kept moving the goalpost, he happily accommodated us! If you have a project, call these guys!"

Fencing questions, answered by experts

Options include ornamental designs, custom gates, and various finishes. Consult with your installer for customization.

A fence installer or homeowner should place a snow fence upwind of the desired drift area, while keeping the prevailing wind direction in mind. When installing a snow fence, its posts should be sturdy, as they will be the weakest areas in terms of tensile strength. Posts should be buried at one-third their height and placed no more than eight feet apart.

Glass has one of the longest lifespans of any fencing materials, lasting anywhere from 10 to 30 years on average. Just how long your glass fence lasts depends on several factors, including how well you maintain your fence, the climate, and the type of glass you use.

If you live somewhere with severe weather like hail, tornadoes, or hurricanes, expect your glass to have a shorter lifespan. Pool glass is one of the thickest tempered glass materials and may last longer than other options—especially compared to laminated glass.

There are several options for post materials. Depending on where you live, the weather, and what kind of durability you want, you can choose from wood, steel or concrete posts for a barbed wire fence. Your corner and end posts should be especially strong in order to maintain the structural integrity of the fence.

The cheapest fence to install is likely to be a wire fence, whether it’s hog wire or chicken wire. Closely following that is something repurposed that would be free to collect, like a DIY pallet fence. Most wire fences are available in large quantities at a low cost, so they’re great for homes with a tight budget.
