"I recently purchased an historic 1902 home in downtown, many of the rooms had been "repaired" over the years by shoddy contractors. Houston knew exactly how to bring the house back to life! Not only did help me choose a great wallpaper that looks unbelievable, he repaired 100 years or more of quick repaint work on the trim as well as repaired the original plaster walls that were crumbling in certain areas. He gets 6 out of 5 stars if you ask me!"

Small jobs welcome

"Unlike the rest of the people in Colorado Springs involved in home repair business, theyre priced appropriately. My only complaint was how long they took to come to the house HOWEVER they more than made up for that in professionalism and a healthy price adjustment that was offered in apology for their lateness which was of little inconvenience. Would recommend every time over the price gouging competition in this business."

"Cassie and JD run a great operation at All Things Walls. They were quick to come in and provide a fair estimate for drywalling and painting multiple areas in my home. They did a great job in a timely manner and exceeded my expectations. I will continue to use All Things Walls for all my wall project needs and to get my current remodel done. Highly recommend this company! Great friendly people."

"I could not be more satisfied w The Patch Boys of Clarksville and Bowling Green. Im pretty particular w contractors especially when it comes to working inside my home. Working w Ireland and her team to remove the popcorn ceiling throughout my home took the stress out of the project. Now I look at my newly remodeled ceilings and just smile. When I need drywall work completed again, I wont hesitate to call Ireland Lutz and her Patch Boys team!"

Plaster Repair questions, answered by experts

You can technically just paint over hairline cracks in plaster since these cracks are often harmless, but this will mostly be a waste of paint. Paint will only hide the hairline crack for a few months before it shows up again. The best solution is to repair the crack with flexible filler or joint compound before repainting.

Although they have similar applications, spackle and joint compound are not the same. Their primary differences lie in their composition, consistency, and ideal use cases.

Spackle is composed of gypsum and binding agents, making it thicker than joint compound. It dries quickly and is easy to sand, which makes it ideal for small wall repair projects like filling nail holes or patching minor damage.

Joint compound, also known as drywall mud, consists of limestone and gypsum. It is primarily used for large-scale projects, such as taping and finishing the seams on newly installed drywall. It tends to shrink more than spackle and can be more difficult to spread.

While both products can be used to fill small depressions and cracks, spackle cannot replace joint compound for taping and mudding new drywall. Conversely, you can often use joint compound for small patching jobs typically done with spackle.

Although they are used for similar tasks, spackle and joint compound are not the same. Joint compound, also known as drywall mud, consists of limestone and gypsum and is primarily used for large-scale projects like taping and finishing seams on new drywall. Spackle is composed of gypsum and binding agents, making it a thicker compound best suited for small wall repairs like filling nail holes or cracks, as it dries quickly and is easy to sand. For small repairs, either product can be suitable. However, you can use joint compound for small jobs in place of spackle, but you cannot use spackle for large-scale taping and mudding projects.

This depends on how much plaster is applied and in how many layers, but a decent estimate is around 150 square feet. If you are applying only two coats on a small wall, there is a chance you may only need one or two gallons for the entire project. If you are plastering a large living room wall with high ceilings, using one of the more involved techniques–like Scagliola–that requires several coats, expect the project materials costs to add up quickly.

Ensures structural integrity and aesthetic consistency with proper materials and techniques.
