"I had several outlets that stopped working. I called Conway because I had a maintenance agreement with them. They gave me an appointment 9 days out. I called Tommy Electric and Tommy came out the next day, quickly discovered the problem and fixed it. Tommy was punctual, knowledgeable, personable and very fair. I was so impressed with his service I had him install four outdoor lights and one indoor light at my house. I am also going to have him install two more outdoor lights and replace my two outdoor electrical outlets. I highly recommend Tommy without hesitation. You will be very satisfied with his service and his work ethic."

"The electricians installed a ceiling fan for us and were great! They arrived on time, were very polite, and got the job done correctly. We are very pleased with them and will most likely hire them again when we decide to put in our other fans."

"I have never had any problems with any of their work. They do the best job and work until it is finished. One time they were working on the generator they were here until about 10 at night to get it done. They come when you call! I have been using them for the last 20 years and I've never had one complaint! They deserve an A+"

"William Burden is the third generation owner of WBLightningRods and his company has been in business since 1950. He is very courteous, professional, was on time, and has a very good crew. William was present for the entire installation. We chose the copper system. We are glad for the peace of mind a lightning rod system will provide."

Generator Install questions, answered by experts

With proper maintenance, a whole-house generator can last between 20 and 40 years. The specific lifespan depends on how often and for how long the generator is used, and some models may have their life expectancy rated in hours of operation. To maximize its lifespan, expect to spend around $150 to $300 per year for annual maintenance checks from a qualified technician. During these checks, a technician will inspect the engine filter, starting mechanism, fuel, lubrication, and coolant levels. Consulting your installer and choosing a low-impact fuel like natural gas or diesel can also help ensure your generator lasts as long as possible.

Yes, installing a generator usually increases your property value because buyers are getting the added peace of mind knowing they’ll be able to maintain power through blackouts. In most cases, you should see close to a 100% return on investment (ROI). Keep in mind that home generators usually need a permanent foundation, and installing a concrete slab will likely raise your property taxes slightly.

Energy output depends on turbine size, average wind speed at your site, and system efficiency. A 5 kW turbine in a good wind location can generate 8,000 to 12,000 kilowatt-hours per year, which may cover a large portion of an average home’s needs. Accurate output estimates require a professional wind assessment and a review of your household’s energy usage patterns.

Costs range from $500 to $2,500, depending on generator type and installation complexity.

While the rating will tell you how many watts the refrigerator needs at the peak of its cycle, it requires additional wattage to start. At the bare minimum, you’ll need a 1,500-watt generator to get the fridge up and running after a blackout. A 2,000-watt generator should be sufficient for most home refrigerators.
